Buzzy Vibration at certain RPM's..read before buying!

I did just that, that's when the lead tech said what he did about it being normal
and needing to settle in.

I skimmed the last 20 pages while being bored at work just now.

I feel for you guys in not receiving a resolution. I too, would be irate having purchased such an expensive product, then experience the problems you have.

Even though I am dealership personnel, I have nothing further I can add as far as finding a resolution, but I can tell you that if you're looking to trade in, I know I can trade my 16 Tacoma DCSB TRD Sport 4x4 with P&T package, 6,800mi on it, for $34,000 at a Ford dealership today. I hate to see anyone go that route, but if you do, I figured I'd post my trade offer as a basis for comparison.

 

Aren't trade value numbers irrelevant without corresponding purchase price of the replacement?

 

Why would they be irrelevant? What I would buy does not determine the value of my trade. Whether I trade it in for a Yugo or a Shelby GT500, the truck is still worth what it's worth.

 

When i trade i negotiate the difference. I have in my mind what i am willing to give for theirs and what mine is worth and what i see as the difference. If they tell you a value for your truck and then use that number as trade for msrp off new truck you are not really getting the value they quoted. They are not going to give full retail for yours then charge invoice for theirs. Hard to stay in business that way.

 

In my mind, negotiating the price of what I'm buying and negotiating the value of my trade are two totally separate battles.

Working in a dealership though, it helps a lot as I typically don't negotiate at all. My employer gave me $27k on trade for my 14 Tacoma DCLB 4x4 SR model which had 24k miles on it, and sold me my 16, which stickered at around 37k for $34,500.

But before I got into the dealership game, I still had no issues negotiating. I found what I wanted, and I went in with a price in mind. After agreeing to that price, we then started negotiating my trade.

 

Works out the same. Main thing is you go in knowing what you want to do. Too many people go in and are thrilled when they get 2k off first offer when, in reality, the dealers first offer was very fair or 4k too high. I just prefer negotiating one number.

 

I have 2016 trd DCSB sport with over 5k on it, only vib I get is at 70mph and I Think a x wind. Sounds like a flat note on jazz horn. I do 100 miles a day at speed to and fro work.

Dear Toyota, I am looking for a definition of normal and characteristic regards to my 2016 Toyota Tacoma. My vehicle has a very discernable and noticeable vibration in the steering wheel, floor board and gas pedal. You have had your field Tech's and dealer mechanics declare it normal for this vehicle. Many owners do not have or notice this issue. Therefore rather than letting a human being decide what is normal we would like a quantifiable test with actual vibration analysis to decide when a particular vehicle is beyond normal and characteristic... A company of your size surely has the resources and ability to figure this out. In the name of customer satisfaction and your own reputation please take action.

Just got off the phone with corporate again same old song and dance.

 

I have contacted a reputable aftermarket automotive engineering company. My goal is to have them take diagnostic measurements from a couple of afflicted trucks. Also readings from random vehicles. I'm hoping they can get this info organized and put together in a cohesive manner. I'm hoping to have them get real time info from the trucks computer regarding speed/rpm, gear, throttle position etc. And graph this along side vibration sensors mounted on steering wheel, floorboard and gas peddle.
This will not be a cheap project. I hopefully will get pricing for this in the next few days. This info should be able to sway an arbitrator to easily rule in favor of our problem. I'm tired of Toyota at this point and I'm going to take it to arbitration or lemon law. I will post pricing for the professional diagnosis. At that point if we want to proceed hopefully we can get enough of us together to pitch in on this. Any ideas on wether this is a good idea or to help organize please let me know. I'm ready to get this over with.

Ben-have you checked with your state re the lemon law? My truck qualifies as a lemon.

 

Deposit made, my TRD OR DCSB MT should be arriving next week..my first Taco truck....I'm very disappointed with what I've read on this forum....sure hope I don't encounter similar issues's...

 

Make sure you understand your state lemon laws. Some will be more in your favor.

 

Not to negate or marginalize the issues these guys are having, but don't let this thread be your final deciding factor on buying the truck or not. I have a TRD Sport DCSB MT 4x4, approaching 7k miles, and it's been flawless so far.

 

This^^^^^^ many have no issues at all with the truck. Other than the vibe, which appears
to be the 2 rear engine mounts as the source, I love the truck.

I am betting they are working on a TSB for this 'buzz' and then someday, for those who complain, there will
be a remedy. but they have to get product out the door first, so buzzes are gonna happen

you don't think toyota already knows every squeak, growl, hum and hiss, and vibration on this crate ?
