K&N says their filters are either 10 or 15k, I can't remember.

I run my K&N HP with deal filter mags too, just in case

When I dropped he trans pan I was shocked at what the filter mag caught. It was so tiny, finer than antiseize. Touch it and looks like black paint on your finger, but it's all metal you can pick up with a magnet.

 

We were told by Ducati to NOT sell K&N oil filters for their bikes. A piece of the media in those filters came apart , lodged in the oil passage and seized a couple of the engines....

 

I never heard of oil filter magnets. Looks interesting after a quick google search.

I remember reading a long elaborate post on here about oil filter comparisons and the OEM Toyota filter supposedly had the largest filtration area (edited from "best filtration"), so I bought a 6 pack off Amazon and called it a day. The poster sounded pretty knowledgable and sold me on it haha

Yeah different oil filters all have their advantages. Most of the high flow filters are cellulose or sythetic so that they can handle more pressure without blowing out. But synthetics can't filter as well as OE paper filters. Paper gets in the teens for microns, synthetics are usually in the 20's. Filter mag is supposed to grab down to 3-4 micros for metallic particles.

I like my magnets, but they are a bitch to get off the filter! My transmission magnet is the big one, 150 pound pull total. I have one in my rear diff that is 70 pound. If you put one on, watch your fingers!

 

Interesting... Were they the HP line? HP is the origional line, the other two are newer lines. What filters does Ducati reccomend?

I think bobs the oil guy found out that M1, RP, and K&N are essentially the same filter. Same media, same number of pleates, same end caps and drain back valves and springs.

For my truck any top teir oil filter that I only have to change once a year is good enough I like the K&N cause of the nut lol

What are your thoughts on the security bar? Worth it? Don't waste your money? Or try it out?

 

I bought that bar because I don't want people opening up when there in the back seats. They don't know it's in the track so they quite trying. And it also stops and easy pry job on the back window.

 

Just a heads up. For anybody who was planning on or wanting to order anything from Sarah (boss 4x4), I'm going to be placing an order for a bunch of stuff. I made a security bar out of plexiglas and it was much cheaper than $20. No need be fancy, just needs to work. And yes I think it's a must for security given the fact I personally know someone who had their truck enter twice by prying the back window.
