probably looking at 240 for labor. 1 hour for the rear add-a-leafs (both), and 1 for each front side. maybe 300 even.

Learn to do it yourself and use money for labour and get the 5100/eibach or ome kit atleast. It is worth twice the money over the spacer lift. And if you do dare to take the spacer lift route its just as well to get a cheaper ebay kit that does the same thing.

As someone who was both a broke college kid and did the spacers and me today paying to do the 5100 kit. I can tell you the price is well well worth the difference. Devinzz1 is right. Learn to do it yourself and throw a mechanically inclined friend a case of beer to help you. When you take it in for tire install/ alignment have them double check all your work and bolt torques

I haven't decided on what lift kit I am going to buy. I don't have any knowledge on them, either. All I know is that some of them won't work on a 5 lug Tacoma for whatever reason. Mine has 6 wheel lugs. Doing the labor myself certainly isn't an option, though.

Whats the difference between spacer lift and otherwise?

    Spacer lift = bad
    5100's eibach = better
    Fox,Kings,icon coil overs = best.

Also, is there any way to get a good perspective on how it would look with certain tires/lift distance? I have been looking at other people's albums on here to get an idea.

I figured as much. I think I'm going to go with that with Grabber AT2s on stock wheels for now.

Now I need to figure out what tires are proportionate for a 3" lift as well as the stock 16" rims. 285/75/16 I think is ok

you will need spacers for those tires though. 285 will rub bad on UCAs. You'll also have to hammer the pinch weld and maybe lose the mud flaps to prevent rubbing issues.

you just need about an inch to cover the backspace. maybe even 3/4 would work.

I just need an idea of how whatever size would look with a 3" lift. And I'm trying to figure out what my stock wheel dimensions are.

    This is it here

I think its 16" diameter but I have to be sure

I might not have a choice but to go with 265/70/16 General Grabber AT2 if I decide to stick with stock rims. Not sure how much larger I can go with 3 more inch lift

I think you need at least 4.25" of backspacing to fit 285/75/16 with the uca. Not sure what those style of wheels are?

what does backspacing mean, exactly? I know UCA is upper control arm.

    edit: nevermind, I understand

    so how is backspacing done?

I am running that same lift kit with 285/75/16 second Gen wheels1452557586709.jpg
The backspacing on these wheels is 5.25" so I definitely was gonna hit the uca's. I had to get wheels spacers. I went with 1.5" that gave me about an inch of clearance between the uca.
    1452548766441.jpg

I had no issues rubbing the pinch weld even with some minor off roading. I removed the front flaps and just bent the rear flaps mount back a little to help. If you don't take it off road you would not have to many rubbing issues.

Nice. That picture helps explaining it. So how much did your wheel spacers cost?

edit: those 2nd gen. wheels have 1/2" more backspacing than the 1st gen wheels per this thread
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/do-2nd-gen-wheels-fit-1st-gen.216158/

    edit 2:

I know someone on this forum has a 3" lift and 285/75/16 tires with the same wheel I plan on uising...he uses 1/4" of spacing and say it still rubs the frame at full turn..

I know now that I need somewhere between greater than 1/4" and 1.5" of spacing lol.
