Hey eon_blue I appreciate your input! It is good to know what I actually have vs what the dealer stated. I will be driving it home to Texas from Oklahoma this upcoming weekend, so I will let ya'll know if it finds its way offroad in the meantime!

No problem! And yeah, take whatever a salesman says with a huge grain of salt. When I was considering a new Tacoma, I went to a few dealerships to ask some questions about the truck and almost every salesman I encountered was clueless about trucks, let alone 4wd or it's features. They would pull up Toyota's website and start reading me basic information that I was already well aware of. Its a little disconcerting actually, I thought dealerships trained salespeople on at least the basics of the cars they're supposed to sell...

Anyway good luck and let us know how the off roading goes if you get a chance to try it out!

One last question, my apologies! So since you said I have a limited slip, can you explain how that works? I know it is a rookie question but I want to be able to maximize my off-road capabilities.

I fully agree, dealers should know more then they do. It's a let down dealers don't care to know more about what they are selling, luckily for tacoma buyers we have this.

    Thank you in advance.

Someone else who is familiar with the late 2nd gen Sport models will have to chime in on this one, I'm only familiar with locking differentials as that's what I've got on mine. The late model second gens didn't have a limited slip anymore as far as I know, Toyota installed something else (braking system) instead that acts like one, but again I'm not familiar with it

I did a quick search though and this thread popped up...

I think this relates to your truck and question, hope that helps!
