It doesn't hang down below the skid plates. The drain bolt head is about 3/8 from the bottom of the oil pan and the drain valve is about 3/4 from the bottom of the oil pan.
So yes if you scrape the skids id stick with the good ole drain bolt just to be safe as the bottom of the valve is about an inch from the skid.

For me i don't hit the trails hard enough to worry about breaking the valve on the trail. The valve is purely for convenience and a speedy oil change.

Ordered myself a Fumoto valve. Also switching to synthetic motor oil with OEM Toyota filter.

I prefer the EZ-103 valve as it uses an O-ring and it flows faster due to larger inside diameter. I posted a pic somewhere of both valves. Whichever you get, the opening needs to be covered up or grime/dirt builds up. I use the blue painters masking tape as it sticks but comes off relatively easily.

Do the synthetic switch. The price is actually cheaper if you do 10K oil changes, even if you get a synthetic oil filter such as Wix XP or Mobil1 Extended. And as has been pointed out, synthetic is better for the environment. The oil analysis' on my Tacoma and Lexus ES350 shows the oil can go 10K+ miles.

Yes I run amsoil 25000 miles or one year whatever comes first with a filter change at every 8300 as a dealer it's cost effective and less impact on the environment

I would like to see your oil analysis results at the end of the 25K, or end of the year. Would you have one? No, I'm not offering to foot the bill. : )

    Too few to list.
I think 25K is a little excessive. I've seen some that have gone 15K but changed filters in between.

Well they guarantee it for 25000 and I have ran it and sold it for 12 years and never had any issues all of our police fire and ambulances run it also 25000 miles with filters changed at 8300 with not one complaint actually saving thousands per year as fleet vehicle
And just as soon as the 25000 mile free changes are over the 2016 will go to amsoil and 25000 mile changes with filters at 8300 I put 687987 miles on my 2002 Tacoma supercharged with no lubrication issues I won't use anything else that's because I send the oil in the the lab at 25000 and they have yet to come back with unusual wear so I'll keep doing what works for me

Limited wheels, extra rope hooks in bed.
For some reason I thought the oil changes on the V-6 involved taking the paper filter out of the housing on the bottom of the engine and that's how the oil came out instead of a traditional oil drain plug.

Sorry, I haven't researched it or climbed underneath the truck yet....BTW, I've never paid someone to change my oil but the dealer might be changing it for the first 25,000 miles.

Can you say run-on sentence?! That is a hard read. You sent in the oil to Amsoil? Don't you think that's a bit of a conflict of interest?

About 5.7 qts if you use the larger filters (Wix 51516XP, Mobil M1-209, Purolator PSL20195, etc...), at which point, just pour in the extra .3 qts for an even 6 qts.

The thing about the rebate is it does not include my oil vendor (Walmart) nor my filter vendor (Amazon) :(

I don't trust the OEM filters to go 10K; so, I use only filters designed for synthetic oil most of which guarantee at least 10K miles.
