Do you notice the gears being stuck during a certain time/temp/use?

Could it be an issue with the sport pkg? The off-road pkg has has the hydro assist system paired with both brake and clutch. I am not sure if the system is different on the sport pkg.

I don't think that should matter. You should be able to lift off the gas and pull it out of gear without using the clutch at all, with only a little bit more effort than normal.

I agree. You should be able to shift out of gear like that. Just trying to get an idea of what is causing the the problem. I believe there is a thread that talks of this issue. I did not finish the thread, but where I stopped they were theorizing.

I have yet to have an issue with the transmission and hope that it will not give me much trouble as an automatic.

Me too....well, until now. I have TRD ORSB 4x4 and have 872 miles. Just now, and just today I was driving in downtown and it got stuck in 3rd gear and i couldnt get it out. I had to double clutch it and then pull and it still was sticky. I wasnt pu$$y fotting around when i was clutching or shifting and I was rev'ing it to 3.2k before shifting like I usually do. I dont know what happened but today was a crappy shifting day @ 872 miles. Why????????????????????

This has happened on a few 2016s. Mine has been good to go for 8000 miles but do a search and you will find a thread on this.

Quick question for the MT club, is it safe to assume that all MT Tacomas are specially ordered??? I had one lined up and the dealer played games with me, in the mean time I sold my nicely modded 5th Gen 4Runner because they promised to have the TRDORDCMT here in a week. Well now they can't get that truck (it was already "reserved" and they waited almost a week to tell me). Been shopping around but the other major dealer was trying to tell me that I was getting the truck below invoice price (total lie because no dealer is going to do that, esp how easy it was for me to negotiate). So I am left with probably having to order one...2-3 months is a long time.

I live in west tn, called all surrounding states and could not locate one, finally put a deposit down and ordered one. Good luck, I think a few have gotten lucky.

Mine was, but the dealer just down the road from me where I got mine from had two (SR and OR) sitting on the lot for at least three weeks. They were still there when I left for vacation a couple weeks ago, noticed them both gone yesterday.

Visited my dealer on Mar 3 - they found what I wanted with a slated build date of Mar 21, already allocated to a dealer in VT. Put a deposit on it. Arrived at the my dealer April 2.

Cars.com and ebay have quite a few on there. Were I doing it over again, I'd locate online, travel, drive home. What color are you looking for? Best of luck.

Wanted the grey, but told the dealer I would take black or silver. Found a couple online as well, but still with no luck purchasing. Also wanted the premium tech package but could do without all those bells and whistles. I will check the above sites, thanks.

Ordering one can take a while, but you get exactly what you want. Some people have waited months for an order to arrive, but I got mine ordered, built, and delivered in 12 days. My dealer did an allocation swap with another dealer right before it was scheduled to be built. Hopefully they'll start moving faster now that they've been in production for 7 months or so.

All the MTs in the Atlanta area are special order only. I ordered mine in January, 8 weeks later it arrived but the dealer forgot to add the options; it was completely stripped truck. They had to resubmit the order and I finally got the truck I ordered on 4/24. It's so rare in this area that all the sales people call it the white unicorn...

I ordered my in a special order only because I wanted at TRD Sport and not the OR. That said, my family has used an auto broker forever since he can find exactly what we are looking for (he has tools for inventory searches) and usually can get the best price(since that is his gig) last few vehicles we have bought from he he beat the dealer prices by at least $1000

Look into brokers in you area. Unless you don't mind traveling to Denver to pick up a vehicle. If not, send me a message and I will pass along his contact info.

Edit: When I talked to the broker in March he had 2 TRD OR manuals in his inventory

I live in KY and did the same. Found one of the 4 MTs in the surrounding states.

I have an appointment on Thursday to grease my zeros and top off MT fluid. Anyone got any pointers for me to keep them honest? I'd hate to have them sit me in the waiting room for an hour and roll my truck back out and not have done anything to it.
