Used 2015 makes me think somebody might have traded in their perfectly good, almost new truck for a flashy 2016.

Used 2016 makes me think somebody's flashy new gen has issues so they cashed out and traded it in. Why else would you get rid of a truck that's only a couple months old with almost no miles?

Ya.. because you know everything you read on the internet is true. If you actually read the threads of people complaining its really only 20 or so members in the same threads and half of them are complaining about something so minor like a slight vibration at 1500 rpms... they don't realize its a truck, not a mercedes. I think the general population is extremely happy with their purchases.

You also bought a truck they told you is brand new but was designed 10 years ago and refined over the last decade. The 2016 is a brand new body style with hundreds of new design elements. They're practically different trucks all together. And with any redesigned model year you run the possibility of having issues (minor or major) you'd be foolish to think otherwise. I'm not denying that. But even the Avalon, camry and Highlander had issues when they had redesigns and Toyota fixed it. I personally as well as MANY other people on this forum have not had any major issues. The minor issues I did have were extremely simple fixes that my local dealership was happy to resolve.

To each their own, but I never cared for the 2nd gen styling or interior. I used to work at a Toyota dealership so I've driven plenty of 2nd gens and always felt the interior simplistic with cheap material.

I agree. The inside is basic but works.

The outside have to disagree. The proportions and lines of our truck will look good for years to come ( I think we have the best looking truck in the market even when comparing to a full size). Our truck isnt long in the tooth which is saying something considering how old the design is. Look at the old Rams, sweet Jesus they are hideous, but I bet when they came out they were the bees knees.

It was a factory new truck with zero problems. 10 years old in the design aspects of frame and interior ok, not a big deal. Mine works no minor issues. 2016 used the same frame. Slapped a new shell on an old chassis wiped their hands and called it a day

Considering the short amount of time you'll actually own the truck you really can't go wrong. Go with your gut and enjoy it either way. Good luck!

Pretty obvious you haven't driven a 2016 yet

    -new engine
    -new transmission
    -new differentials
    -new electrical backbone
    -more tech
    -new interior
    -larger exterior
-suspension is similar but has it's differences

so ya "slapped on a shell"

I think you all are misunderstanding me. Let me clear things up. The 2nd gen is a GREAT truck. It dominated the midsize market for a decade. The last 5 years there wasn't any competition so why change things if they work right? Now that every manufacturer is entering the midsize market again Toyota had to up their game and come out with a redesign. I'm not dissing the 2nd gen. It probably single handedly made the Tacoma name great. But it's time to move on, time to start competing with other manufacturers again. Now the general consumer wants tech, luxury, and fuel economy. And IMHO the 3rd gen does that better than the 2nd

We all know it has a yet to be proven Atkinson cycle engine with from what I've seen so far 3 reports where it goes into limp mode. a new transmission that has messed up gear ratios that revs to high, differentials that shatter, and a sun roof.

In the end our opinions are our own, not trying to make enemies over these shenanigans

Not to mention a back that was copied from the tundra, and a smashed face from the 4 runner with a big grill

The 15s aren't perfect. I have the pulsing whine on cold start that doesn't seem to be causing any actual problems, but sounds like hell...

Are you talking about the air pump? It comes on for like 30 seconds on cold start and sound like a shop vac.
