It shouldn't be much more expensive. 2x2" in 3/16th is something like $14 per foot and 1x1" in .120 wall (1/8") is like $5 per foot, if I recall correctly.

Somehow managed to find time today to work with Sketchup and get a better idea of what the belly skid will look like. Everything is still rough and everything is subject to change....and most likely everything will change slightly. lol

Please refer to this post for more details. It's a rough idea, but it had a ton of potential.

Maybe just do 2 X's instead of all that angle? That's gonna be a heavy motherfucker to install and remove. Just a thought.

You gonna drill through the frame? once I get to a computer I'll show you how I'm gonna do it. No drilling necessary

Haha I thought about that, the weight and all, but I'm more about never having it bend and making sure it's beef AF. If I do anything, I'll probably make it so the crossmember is not part of the actual skid lol, crossmember is easily going to be ~30lbs. I'm expecting it all to weigh~100lbs, not including the IFS Skid which is ~60lbs.

    RIP gas mileage lol

As of right now, yes. I thought about taking the bandsaw to one of the legs of my slider, but that just sounds annoying to do right now. I have a few other ideas, but I'll just keep them written down on a piece of paper for the meanwhile. If you have an idea for what do with the crossmember then I'll take a look. Always interested in new ideas on what to do.

Yep. Weld on a bracket and bolt it on. The another idea I've thought of, but I don't know. One of the ideas I've been liking lately has been to make a bit more like BAMF 2nd Gen Belly Skid. Jerry has a solid skid over there for the second gen and I think I might just make a variation of the crossmember for the first gen. That would solve my "I don't want to drill another hole in the frame" issue.

I haven't seen his skids. But I'd like not to drill through the frame haha. Huge PITA

Using one of the holes already in the frame would probably be easier. Probably what I'll end up doing tbh.

You going to sleeve the holes in the frame? Mines similar but stretches all the way across and then wraps up the side. Will be drilling 4 holes on the driver and 3 on the passenger to fit a 1/2 bolt and holes will be sleeved to prevent tearing.

Probably will sleeve the holes. Frame is pretty thin so it's a good idea in the long run.
