I'm gonna rock them for as long as I can stand em. Funny that the tires are my biggest gripe. As soon as the BFGs come out with C rated 16s I'm out. Been driving on those tires forever and love em. We have to deal with tons of limestone, prickly pear and mesquite here and I hate flats.

 

How do you add the Fuelly info to your signatures?

 

I use my truck as a hunting guide on weekends. There is nothing tougher in terrain than AZ desert and canyon country with jagged shale, cacti of all types and thorn brush. Have put hundreds of miles in brutal countryside on the OEM and shockingly they've held up perfectly. Was actually hoping they'd pop so I can have an excuse to buy new ones. No such luck.

Log in to fuelly, click on your truck, then on the right side there should be something that says share your mpg when you scroll down, then find the link to share in forums and put it in your sig...(click on you, and then signature)

 

All city driving, an abysmal 14.5 mpg. If the transmission funkiness is about fuel efficiency, it ain't working in the city. I'm waiting for my tranny to 'learn' that I don't approve and to get its ass in gear - pun intended.

First fill up today, survey says: 23.1 in mixed driving! About 100 highway miles, some hauling a 300lb dirt bike in the bed, some unpaved roads, the rest around town.

This is with a 4x2, 2.7L, with the 6 speed auto.

I expect that to potentially drop a little with the extra weight I'll be putting into it with equipment and acessories, but a nice start.

 

On my last fill up I got 19.5 on tank. My foot decided speed the last quarter of tank would be fun. Manuals mountains and windows down listen to the engine on when to shift.. What more could you ask for... Besides more fuel.

 

Can't complain with my 99.9 lol. Reset that thing, drove about 2 miles to a stoplight and was rollin. I think that's what some folks on here expect.

But I've been getting 20/21 a tank on my stock offroad

 

This is my history using Fuelly. Pretty much all city driving. The mileage has improved with each fill up. The last tank has been the best at 23.71 IMP MPG. Average over all 8 fill ups is 21.5 IMP MPG or 17.9 US MPG. I am happy with those numbers and hope they improve on a long highway trip. Speed limits run to 70 MPH up here, although local highways are set at 60 MPH/100K.

Fill ups are liters. Mileage is expressed in miles and consumption is in imperial gallons.

In the Seattle area i seem to do best at 64mph in sport mode locked to 5th. I also like this speed becaue i get minimal gear shifts unless its a decent hill. I would like to do more testing in flat areas like socal but 6th gear kills my MPG. I just started this on a trip to the airport 60 miles on direction and improved my mpg at the same speed by 3.9mpg average both ways. 23.9MPG is the best i have ever had in my truck, done on this trip. I have a lot of small hills in my area so i do not expect everyone's experience to be the same.

 

My mpg improves each tank. Maybe the warmer weather? My 2004 did not like the cold either. Last tank was 20+ and overall average is 19+. My Fuelly account is the same username. One caveat about Fuelly is it icludes towing and off road mileage. I noticed some users have extensive towing in their notes on almost every tank. Mine includes both towing and off road mileage also.

 

Science. Warmer air = thinner air. Colder air = dense air. Now consider the way the Fuel / Air ratio works. If you have thicker air, you need more fuel to keep the ratio balanced. If you have thinner air, you need less fuel to keep ratio balanced. So warmer weather yields better fuel economy.

 

But more POWER in cold dense weather! POWER!!!

According to fueleconomy.gov colder air is denser increasing aerodynamic drag. So there's that too.

 

My guess is this doesn't help your gas mileage.

 

Oddly enough my gas mileage on back roads is better than city driving. Probably because not as much stop and go

 

Combination Hwy/City still doing just fine.
