An easy clutch isn't necessarily a bad thing. The easiest clutch I've driven was a F800, easy take up, smooth and predictable engagement. The worse was a 80's Porsche turbo, it was a light switch, on or off, no in-between.

$45 shipped from ebay. Follow instruction mentioned on the thread. I saw in this thread earlier (too lazy to look for it), someone said the thread pitch for 2nd and 3rd Gen is the same at M12 x 1.25.

If anyone is feeling uneasy about bouncing off the rev limiter, Toyota let's 2grfks redline 800 rpms higher on the gs350. They definitely were more conservative when tuning it for the Tacoma.

I think what you're experiencing is what I also did with my 6-speed. It's like there was too much travel in the clutch pedal. I stuck a penny up at the clutch pedal stop thereby reducing pedal travel so it took less of a pedal press to engage the clutch. Cheapest mod I ever did!!

I wouldn't bounce it off, but shifting right up to it isn't bad. It's engineered to run at that speed.

I wonder if anyone has dyno numbers for a stock MT to see where power plateaus for each gear.

Lol i wouldn't recommend doing it all the time though. You'll wear your tires prematurely and more than likely require an alignment sooner rather than later. (Mine jerks when i rev that high from a stop)

Having said that, i rev it high when I'm on mountain passes. Kind of have to on an incline. I ride 4th gear if it's really steep - this way I can maintain a speed of 60-70mph.

2nd gear is perfect for slower speeds. I rode up Sequoia Mountain on 2nd, but the fastest you ever go on those roads is 15-20mph.

Yeah I like to go through town with it pegged out at 6k, for gas mileage of course lol. It's tough to get it to shift to 2nd smoothly with all power you're getting into right away. Most of the time I've hit it it's been on accident because it flies through 1st so quickly

Except for 1st gear, i skip gears all the time, this will allow me to not feel anything. 1-3-5-6. Or 1-2-4-6. You guys get the point.

I also don't spend a lot of time in 1st gear while driving either my motorcycle or my current car that has sportauto trans.

Steve doesn't even have a cell phone much less a computer. He was a prepper before there was such a thing. Don't think joining TW is gonna happen. Had to call his cousin to even get him to a phone to talk to him.

    Stopped by local Toyota dealer

Inquired if they will have a MT allocation

    Sales manager told me
MT doesn't sell so they don't order
    MT is horrible for traffic
    MT has lower resale

Tried to sell me what was on the lot ...

    Sigh

That's a dealership for you. While you're target resale audience is smaller, they're a stronger niche and will pay good prices for one. Unless you want to pound ground and pay at or above MSRP you'll likely just need to order it. Fight with them on the price too. They have nothing invested on a custom order, it's all profit and should be more willing to make a deal with you.

I test drove a TRD Sport 6MT today. Transmission was decent but it seemed to occasionally have difficulty shifting. I also felt like I had to shift out of first extremely early to accelerate smoothly. Is this common behavior?

I'm still holding out for a TRD Off-road. The salesman got pissed at me for wasting his time and didn't seem interested in ordering a truck for me. Not sure why Toyota doesn't seem to be making many off-road 6MTs.

I had three visits with my dealer that sounded just like yours. Finally I found the exact truck I wanted on an upcoming build allocation for a dealer in Montana. I told my dealer you need to get that truck switched to you allocation or I will call the dealer in Montana and buy it. A week later they switched allocations for the truck and I gave them a deposit.

My point is, do your homework and find the truck you want, and then tell your dealer they can bring it to you or you will buy it from the dealer that has it. That should light a fire under them as they loose a sale if they don't try.

I've been waiting since March. Been dealing with Mountain States Toyota in Denver. My salesman has been as helpful as one could expect. The exact truck I wanted will be here within two weeks. Got a nice price too. Silver DC OR M/T Tow pkg.
