I have this too! It was so loud this weekend that I couldn't even hear my passenger! I'm going to lose it!

The corporate field tech was sent down to drive my truck yesterday. Luckily the local service manager rode with us as well so they both got to experience the lovely noise. The corp tech had my windshield re-sealed and it is supposedly fixed. I pick it up today so fingers crossed!

Someone on some thread (can't remember) recommended cutting a small piece of 1/4" drain/drip hose and stuffing it in between the two weather stripping flaps on tops of the driver/passenger door. My truck makes the annoying whistle noise sometimes while driving at freeway speeds. I'll report back if the drain/drip hose makes a difference.

I have to try this fix. As much as we all know Toyota should put out a fix, we know better than to expect one. Glad I decided to search the forum and find this thread. The sound gets really grating on long road trips. If I wasn't with my wife, I'd just crank up the radio and drown it out, but no such luck. I'll definitely try the hose or weatherstrip fix before my summer trips get going.

After driving my 05 off the dealer lot, I've had the kazoo / screech / howl / scream / etc. in high crosswinds. I'm on my 3rd windshield, too, so for me it was never the windshield, as the symptom never changed.

Thanks to dixiedog26, I applied his fix with the weather strip on the driver side only as to troubleshoot, and took her down the highway on a very windy day. Sure enough, heading down the highway the passenger side (without the fix) picked up that oh so familiar (and headache-inducing) howl. When I turned around and headed home, and expecting the howl to traverse to the driver side (with the new weatherstrip); you could hear the rush of the wind, but no kazoo...sweet sweet victory.

I later confirmed...wind was from the SW at 35mph, and my drive took me North, then West...turned around and reversed back home, so back East then South; minimum 4 miles each leg. I've driven this route before in attempt to isolate the issue to ensure I'm hitting the wind at all angles possible.

This may not be the fix for all, but thankfully this was the fix for me. Toyota...are you listening yet???

I ran a 1/4 in vacuum hose between the door and the seal. About 90 percent of the noise is gone. I will try the hard plastic hose in the seal next. Thanks for all the info guys. This site rocks

I have a 2014 DC and adding RTV Silicone to the window seal is what solved the 'kazoo' noise when driving in cross winds on my truck. I am not sure why the mods don't make some sticky posts so you don't have to pour through 17 pages for a solution. After going through post after post there seems to be 3 common sources of wind noise from the windows-
    1) The windshield seal (this post does not deal with this problem, there seems to be an old TSB on it in other threads)
    2) Wind noise while driving in cross winds from the window seal
    3) Wind noise driving in cross winds from the Door Seal.

For items 2 and 3, these are two threads I found helpful with the solutions:

First is the solution which worked for my truck. It is well documented with pics in post 87 of this thread and I have copied the solution procedure into this post for convenience:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/wind-noise-from-window-anyone-fixed-it.185461/page-5

Next is the solution to the problem of wind noise from the Door Seal itself:
Post #64 in this multi-page thread describes enhancing the door seal on a 2015 by adding additional material to the seal. If you go farther into the thread, you will find a more complete solution by installing additional material inside the door seal itself (see Post #87 and Post #98 on page 5).

Hurray! Finally got my Crosswind Kazoo fixed! Had just not gotten around to doing it for the past few months, but this weekend was driving I-15 near Barstow, CA and it started up again in strong crosswinds. I've got the door seal kazoo. Pulled off at the Home Depot in Barstow, got some EPDM weather strip, stuck in between the door seal and the door and it worked perfectly! Drove over 100 more miles in strong crosswinds and not a peep.

The issue is definitely the door seals. I took my truck to Crown Toyota of Lawrence in Kansas and they fixed the problem. There was major crosswinds on my way home and no noise was heard. ( Tech found excessive clearance between both door and door seals. causing the noise. Tech installed solid rubber tubing in both front door seals and the gaps had closed up and the noise subsided.) Hell yeah. If you live in Kansas and have any issues I highly recommend Crown Toyota. HELL YEAH. NOISE IS GONE......

I had the Palm Desert Toyota dealership do a "fix" on my 2015 door seals. (when my passenger pressed the door panel, the noise would stop so it is definitely in the door not the windshield or mirrors.) Seemed better at first but it started up again. it's constantly windy in the desert and I'm getting this noise all the time. I heard it for about 3 hours on the way to Vegas. This is unacceptable. In my view this is not a "noisy cabin" but a defect. I will be taking Toyota to the mat and will report back. Wish I had investigated this site before buying...

rolltyd - after 2 months is the noise still gone? I will have my dealership calls yours if so.

TACOMA DOOR FIXES - found in forums - worth a try?

I had a wind noise on my 2015 Tacoma. The noise came from the drivers side. It sounded like the window wasn't all the way up. The noise always started when I was traveling 40 MPH or more. So I took my truck to the dealership (Maplewood Toyota in MN) and they determined the noise was coming from the base of the mirror. So they removed the mirror and filled the base with foam. This fixed the problem.

Wind noise gone! Got it back from the service. Apparently the noise is coming from the lower swing arm holes and they plugged them. All gone

Jeremy recently there has been a tsb added to fix this problem until a recall comes out. Reno DOLAN Toyota took great care with me, noise issues solved. Have your dealer contact them

Mine is still silent after several months. Yeah it's bullshit that we should even have to do it, but honestly the fix is so easy and a hell of a lot less hassle than dealing with a dealership who may or may not be able to help you. Just buy some weatherstrip and stick it in the door seals as shown in several posts here.

Found this on another thread. I'm going to email this to my dealer and see what he has to say.

Ok guys, so its been a grueling few months of stealership let downs trying to get this thing resolved. But finally when I was at my wits end, I e-mailed the GM of the dealer explaining my dissatisfaction with his service department on this one. Well guess what, later that day the service DIRECTOR for the dealership called. I had spoken with the service manager, while he was nice, he was useless in solving this issue. Well the service director told me he had been with Toyota for ~19yrs and that due to his dealership being one of the big boys that he worked with the engineering department that solves defects. Due to the large number of vehicles his dealership sees, he ends up seeing more of the defects, due to this he works directly with engineering on reporting problems and finding solutions.

The first thing he said to me was, "A lot of Tacomas have that noise, and the '15s seem to be the worst". He said that as of a week or two ago Toyota stopped selling the replacement door seals because they are very aware that there is an issue and that replacing the seals doesnt work. What he said after that I really liked, he told me they are working on a new door seal that is thicker and firmer, and that the engineers have a 2015 Tacoma they are using as their test vehicle. He told me that once the new seals are released that myself and everyone with this issue would be receiving a new set. Then he told me the best news of all. He told me they had a temporary fix that would work until the new seals are released.

What they did was, they took 7/16" vacuum hose or windshield washer tubing (either works) and they pulled the seal that is on the door back and ran the rubber tubing behind the seal. They started at the top corner of the trailing edge of the door and run it all the way across the top and down to just below where the side mirror is on the door. Doing this makes the door seal stick out further, and makes it harder to compress while closing the door.

We are having some really bad storms in Houston last night and today, normally with the wind blowing like it is, my truck would be howling like crazy going down the road, but not any more, it's actually quieter inside the cab than it has ever been!!

I am at work currently, but I will post pictures of the tubing and where it is ran when I get home tonight.

Can one of the mods make this a sticky or something like that, I know that after conducting a quick search there are several threads like this, and a lot of unhappy Tacoma owners dealing with this noise. I would like to make sure everyone sees this one, as I know for me it made me a lot happier driving my truck now.

Hey all, One thing that all of us are fully aware of now is Toyota DOES NOT have a wind tunnel to test their vehicles in!!

Here we are in 2016 and dealing with simple issues such as wind noise. I hate to say it but I have found in my wifes 2011 Highlander and now my 2014 Tacoma..... Toyota is getting CHEAP. The parts that make up the window/door are of cracker jack prize quality. In our case the window seals are too thin. In my wifes Highlander the inner door parts are cheap thin plastic.

I will purchase the weatherstrip and place that along the A pillar area since I know for show the Kazoo is playing there! Thanks for every ones research on this.

This is the same fix i came up with MANY months ago.... i used 3 pieces of 1/4in drip line between the flaps of the door seal to stiffen it up..... 30 cents of material and 10 min of my time .... money and time much better spent than dealing with the dealer in my opinion.

And they do have a wind tunnel but can not possibly test all wind directions and gusts etc.

Nor could they test 20 vehicles to check for manufacturing variation. It appears to be a tolerances problem, the gasket isn't quite fat enough to handle the worst case gap.

I'd agree to skip the dealer unless there is no value to your time and you are completely bored with every other alternative of things to do in your brief time here on Earth. Get pretty much any kind of gasket from the hardware store. Stick it in the door along side the existing gasket. Move on with your life.
