    Try this.

Valet switch in the off or out position.
Turn the ignition key to the on position
Press and release the LED valet switch 6 times.
Immediately turn the ignition key off then back on.
Feature 1 LED flashes 1 time.
1 chirp = headlights on during disarm, horn chirps either 1 or 2 times.
2 chirps = headlights off during disarm.
To change the selection, press and release the lock button on the transmitter (fob) or if the ignition key is chipped use the lock button on the drivers door panel, which will be indicated by the appropriate 1 or 2 chirp signal from the horn. If you do not want to change this feature, simply press and release the LED valet switch 2 times to advance to programmable feature number 2.

Feature 2 LED flashes 2 times
1 chirp = headlights on during arm horn chirps either 1 or 2 times.
2 chirps = headlights off during arm.

To go to feature 3 push the valet switch 2 times.

I've got mine set as follows.
feature 1. 2 chirps, headlights off during disarm
feature 2. 2 chirps, headlights off during arm
    feature 3. 1 chirp on
feature 4. 2 chirps off, passive arming.
    feature 5. 1 chirp on

Set this way my headlights are off during arm and disarm. panic button works headlights, turn signals, and horn. and the system will rearm in 30 sec. if no door is opened or vehicle isn't started.

This works on my GULF STATES truck with a 3200 alarm. Anyway after ignition on, valet switch pushed total of 6 times, ignition off and back on with door closed. You should now be in feature #1 and the horn should have chirped at you 1 time as your headlights come on during disarm. If your horn didn't chirp and the LED valet switch didn't blink one time when you turned the key back on this is not going to work.
If it did chirp at that time. push the lock button, to lock, on the drivers door either one or two times to get it to chirp twice. If that worked, again push the valet switch 2 times and you will be in feature #2, horn chirps and LED flashes 2 times, and repeat, pushing the lock button until you get 2 chirps. If it worked at this point turn off the ignition, done.

I might add that once you turn the key back on and enter a feature point you must push the lock button within 15 seconds or it times out and you have to start over.;)

The above link might help you as you have an '08 like mine. I could only get mine to work in 5 programs and not the 10 in the instructions sent to you. Also it is my understanding that the auto door lock and unlock with ignition on and off is no longer an option with the RS3200 on any 2nd gen. Tacoma. Also with the chipped key use the lock button on the drivers door.

My thoughts after the fact. The $320 for the security system upgrade was way overpriced for available programming features IMO. The new chipped keys with the keyless entry would probably suffice unless you definitely want the audible part to let you know something is going on. In most cases the alarm just alerts you to your broken window and missing belongings quicker.;)

OK - just received this from Steve Salik at Gulf States Toyota - he says this is the correct manual for the '08 Tacomas with the Gulf States Alarm upgrade.

I agree for that you can have a alarm with remote start installed will a 2 way fm transmitter and LCD screen so you can see whats happening when you can't see or hear your truck.

I have thought about buying one for this truck... i used to have on and loved it...

    Thanks so much.

I have #5 set to on so I guess it is refering to the parking lights flashing as mine do and I couldn't figure out what #3 did. So now I know that it will annoy the neighbors an extra 6 min. set this way and I'm actually set in active arming.

That's all I had got to work off of the modified directions from my '99. The '99 had ten programmable features.

A car alarm is a lot like a radar detector. A car alarm tells you when something is getting stolen and a radar detector tells you when you are about to get a ticket.

OK, and since I've deactivated the chirps during arm and disarm it dosen't really matter to me but thanks for the info.

I learn something new every time I visit this sight.

Well, finally figured out that in the last manual I posted, after you go into program mode, it is already sitting at feature one, you need to work the lock switch to turn it on or off. So, once I figured this out, I enabled the passive arm mode - well, found out all it does is arm the alarm, not lock the doors, so when I come back out an jerk on my handle the door opens and the alarm starts off - what a useless feature! Turned it off immediately!

That doesn't sound right. It should have both locked the doors and activated the alarm in 30 sec after all car doors are shut shouldn't it?

Sent an email to Gulf States to see if that is correct - however "arming" would seemto mean to just arm the security system - I believe the security system is hooked into the remote door lock, so when you remotely lock the doors, it also arms the security system.

That's what active arming does as I understand it. I have mine set that way and the alarm arms and disarms with the fob's action of locking and unlocking the door. Also this way if you disarm and unlock the door with the fob but don't open a door in 30 sec. it will again automatically lock and arm again.

Several people I know with, 02 and 04, 4-Runners have theirs set to passive and it locks and arms after the last door is shut in 30 sec. regardless of the fob being pushed.

On the directions for my '99 that had 10 steps step 6 was for active or passive alarm arming and step 7 was for active or passive door locks.
I don't see where we get anything but the step 4 of 5 on our new trucks which as I read it is a combination of both alarm and door locks.
    Keep us posted.
