I get better gas mileage on forest roads. No stopping and speeds for extended times at 30 to 35 mph. Not rocket science. If I was rock crawling it would be a different story.

Far more 4x2 are made and sold as opposed to 4x4. Many people never tow. This is not a primary tow vehicle. Those numbers would not make significant impact.

I see your point all I'm saying is I think it balances out because the number of 4x2s out there. If there was a case to be made that most people who use fuelly are 4x4 owners then the theory would hold more water.

TRDOR average is 18.24. You can filter it for submodel. TRD sport is 19.27. Not too bad. Maybe the spoiler?

Also probably more OR on the OR (makes sense right?) And more aggressive tires.

So where is the thread where you actu
Wasn't forest roads last time I asked if your off roading was affecting your mileage, it was more like rough rocks and what not in Arizona and the hundreds of miles you have driven on them. Who knows, maybe you were just exaggerating then.
    Post seemed to have disappeared.
    Oh well, proceed.

I use my truck as a hunting guide on weekends. There is nothing tougher in terrain than AZ desert and canyon country with jagged shale, cacti of all types and thorn brush. Have put hundreds of miles in brutal countryside on the OEM and shockingly they've held up perfectly. Was actually hoping they'd pop so I can have an excuse to buy new ones. No such luck.

And? What is your point? My numbers still track with the National Average on Fuelly for this truck/motor combo. Perhaps you're being overly presumptive about the affect offroad travel has on fuel economy.

This thread is a great thread but it could be much better if everyone would ignore the trolls by putting them on ignore as I have did.

I have been posting real time numbers with pictures every day this week to and from work that proves what kind of gas mileage the 3rd Gen V6 can get.

Since when is posting facts and data considered trolling. Just because you don't like the facts based on a valid trend analysis and third party data collection does not make it an act of trolling.

Think I've posted it before but for my driving, the improvement is negligible. The type of mileage on both trucks is essentially the same which consists of a 5-6 mile commute to work each day and ~120 mile trip to the coast a couple times a week. Have noticed a slight improvement in mileage by just leaving it in S-5 on my drive down and back instead of fighting the CC's need to downshift or running without it. The engine really seems to lug with any increase in throttle position while in 6th so S-5 seems to work a bit better for me with more consistent engine load and less gear hunting. Was playing around with the Ultra-Gauge and seems that it downshifts to 5th when engine load reaches 80% and doesn't go back to 6th until it gets down to 30-35%.

My Turd Gen TRD Sport M/T DCSB has been averaging 20.6-20.7 per tank. My commute is about 25-30 miles each way with a few starts and stops mostly 55 mph zones with a about 5 miles of highway cruising at 70 mph or so.

You live in the same area as me. Try sport mode and limit it to 5th gear.

I think your drive is exactly how you get mileage out of this truck. My first 5 tanks have been a mix of city stop-n-go and 80mph toll road. That combo right there gets you 17-18.
