    Do you have any rubbing at full lock a
    Buy a seat belt buckle extender on e-bay $10.00 and your seat belt chime will no longer bother you.
    Like you said you have to put your foot in it to develop some horse power. That is going to be the nature of this beast. You need to research what a Atkins engine does. how it holds valves open when under a light load for fuel economy then when you start putting your foot in it will open and close the valves in a manner that most 4 cycles use. Completely different beast.
    Here is a link that gives a brief description of the atkins engine. It was designed for fuel economy. When you want power you are going to have to stick your foot into it so the computer adjusts the valve timing to develop better power. keep your foot light for fuel economy. At least it will develop some power when you stick your foot into it. The engine was desighned for fuel economy. But it also has variable valve timing so the computer can ajust things depending on where your foot is in the throttle. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2015/01/how-it-works-2016-toyota-tacomas-atkinson-cycle.html

    The Atkins engine was first used in the Prius by Toyota. Did you not research the new engine before you bought the truck? check this link out. http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2015/01/how-it-works-2016-toyota-tacomas-atkinson-cycle.html

    Picked up my ordered (6 weeks ago)TRD OffRoad, with Premium JBL pkg yesterday from Dean at West Toyota, Columbus, Ohio! We flew in from Houston, TX.......I got $3K of a MSRP of $38,983.....total drive out minus tax and registration, $35, 983. No one in Houston could touch that pricing.....everyone there was minimum $40K+ for same exact vehicle.
    Driving back with wife.....poured rain, flash flood alerts all day yesterday, Thursday. Nightmare driving. 70-80 mph, 19.2 mpg. What us crazy though is never once did Taco hydro-plane......never have had a vehicle that would not have done that in this kind of rain/road conditions. Also the truck hauls ass.....fast. Quiet, handles great........impressed!!
    I'm 6'-3", 200 lbs, plenty of leg room, head room, seat felt great (my other car is a Honda Crosstour for comparasion). Stopped in Memphis after 11 hrs of road warrior driving, rain, semi-trucks etc. on to Houston today.
    Wife even likes it!
    Have my build stuff at home ready for install.....will update build with pics.
    Super thanks for all the info from so many members of this forum, gleamed tons of info. Most important was the A/T fluid low level thing! Dean (more on him later, btw gets best car salesman ever), at Toyota West per my requests, did the manual, non-scanned check on the A/T fluid level (I have the tow pkg), was 1.5 qts low! U-bolts tightened up, and u-joints greased.
    Truck = AWESOME!

    I agree. I recalled it on my test drive and thought it was more just me being conservative on the test drive, but damn, the thing is a slug compared to anything else I've ever drove.

    Yes, I used an add-a-fuse plugged into AM1. Mind you, this is a constant power source. For the back lighting, I used a splice connector tapped into the truck bed light rocker switch. It is a pale green wire.

    Ok, things are lining up for my first pic of phase 1 build. Once done, I will post the 'Blue Thunder' project. (roof rails, ARE Overland Cap, Cargo-slide, window vents, bug guard, T-rex billet grill and Bushwacker billet style wheel flares) WIP. But I have some questions for Phase 2.

    Bushwacker wheel flares just look dumb without oversize tires and a lift. I'm thinking 285 width and 3" leveling kit. Not sure on profile height, may see if the stock rims will work or if I need to go up to 17" or 18". What other considerations do I need to consider for the suspension such as control arms, shocks, etc.? or do I need to do anything at all. On my last 08 Gen2, I had 275, 50R 20's on it (2WD street look) and the front wheel bearings gave out around 75K. Most said it was due to the increased stress on the bearing from the non-stock offset. I've had this truck for 3 weeks, I have a 'few' payments left and want to make sure I do it right. Any suspension advice for a TRD4x4 would be most righteous. Can't wait to post my first pics of phase 1!! This site rocks!

    Thanks, they are plug and play. They normally come with a silver housing but I requested the black.

    For those of you that are interested in the Squadron lights from Baja Designs, my only disappointment is they don't sit flush with the fog light shroud. When I get some time, I'm going to pull everything out and paint the area behind the shroud to make it less noticeable.
