That's crazy. I didn't realize they were that expensive. I don't even have my 16 yet, but I decided to stop by the parts counter at the dealership yesterday to see how much one would cost if I decided to go that route. They laughed and said that they couldn't even get me one.

I don't care that they're not that great. I won't use it all that often, but I wouldn't mind having one. My dealer can't get me one and all of the ones for sale in the forum are too far away from me to be solutions.

I have looked around Ontario here and have found one for 800 cash at a truck accessories supply shop going to go that route. For a tri-fold.

    I am in Ottawa, Canada.

Paid around 1150 for my Extang Solid Fold 2.0. Don't exactly remember to the cent since my brother got it for me (salesman at Toyota).

    I have the 6' bed.

    But yeah...they are expensive AF.

We get Trifold Undercover for around $800 installed. I dont like the factory tonneau because it sits up off the bed. The other tri folding covers sit flush which gives a cleaner look.

What don't you like about it?

I plan on getting one from the factory. I'm definitely not a tonneau cover expert. Teach me.

Not to quote jack, but others have reported the tonneau after so many miles starts to deteriorate. The tonneau looks to sit roughly 1/2-1 inch off the bed of the truck, also reports of the tonneau not securing all the way.

Undercover is the brand we use on all of our trucks for our customers at my office. We have never had a problem with them and we have one on a Tundra from 2010 still going strong. Only showing signs of slight weathering (fading) but the seals are still in good condition. The Undercover sits flush to the bed so it gives it a clean look and also helps with someone trying to stick a pry-bar in the gap to break into the bed of the truck whereas the factory one sits off the bed so its easy to stick a pry-bar and try to break the latches.

So, what you're saying is, Toyota can't supply a tonneau cover that lasts more than a couple months?

Im trying to find the thread of the member who stated the tonneau was deteriorating I think after 10000 miles. I wasn't subscribed to the thread so its going to take me a while to try and search for his post.

Member states at 20,000 miles the tonneau is deteorating
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/checking-in-at-20-000-miles.431688/#post-12439073

Also found this one of a piece breaking off after only 1700 miles
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/factory-tonneau-broken-piece-what-part.433365/

and also while searching I found over 5 posts just on the first page of search results of people wanting to sell their factory tonneau. If it was good, I dont think people would be getting rid of it so fast.

I definitely have noticed the abundance of for sale threads for the factory cover.
