I imagine there's got to be a thread about this somewhere in the archives, but couldn't figure out what search terms to plug in to find it and haven't seen anything pop up thus far.

I just got my midrise SnugTop canopy, and am planning to build a platform bed setup in the back of my new truck. Trying to get some good design ideas to maximize storage space (want to be able to fit some boxes underneath the bed), make it easy to install/remove, and something that a non-carpenter can build!

Anybody have any great ideas or builds they'd mind sharing? I don't have much of a construction/carpentry background, so would love to get some ideas on the design process, and also figure out how to attach the thing to the inside of the truckbed!

    Thanks!

There are probably tons of threads on this, but this is the one that I started on:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/sleeping-platform-designs.38144/

This is also a good read:
    http://www.desktodirtbag.com/category/truck-camping/

What I ended up doing was a very simple setup that installs/removes in a minute and also didn't take any skill to build. There are pictures below, but I just got two 6"x1" planks and attached 1"x1" feet to the planks which fit into the notches in the bed. A piece of plywood sits on top. If it's just me, I just have the single piece of plywood so that I can use the other half of the bed. If it's me + 1, I add another two planks parallel to the plywood so that the platform is the full width of the bed.

An air mattress goes on top, and for storage, I just use a plastic Sterilite under bed storage container which slides underneath. I wish I had a better picture, but here it is in action:

0210- That's a pretty impressive build. Not sure I have the tools/know-how to replicate the design (and the carpeting!), but would love to try... By any chance, do you have a design/template drawn up you used to make your cuts that you'd be willing to share?
