Passenger side floor is wet. Have floormats and water got under the mat.

In my searching here I found that most point this to the AC drain being plugged. However, I ran the truck with the AC on and opened the hood. Noticed a lot of dripping coming out of the AC drain so I don't think its AC related.

We just had a tropical storm hit the area and so I am thinking all the rain caused this. What are the typical areas to look at for leaking coming from rain water? Is it a window seal? Cowl area?

Thanks. Hopefully not a painful process to get this fixed.

To play it safe get under vehicle and stick a small in diameter but long in length (about 10") vacuum hose or screw driver ( but cover the tip with tape )
in drain hose to make sure there is nothing blocking it. Then basically do a visual inspection on the area from top to bottom. A garden hose works wonders
when you think you found a suspected area. Remember these vehicles are not air tight, lots of places water can come in from.

If a cowl drain is partly blocked, normal amount of rain might not leak in, but a hard rain might.

Is your truck modified at all? A lot of people hammer the pinch weld to clear 33's, and in doing so can cause water to get in exactly like you described.

Not modified but I just got it so I will look over that area and see if there is any type of damage like you're describing.

The cowl is that piece of plastic that covers the gap between the hood and the windshield. Maybe some crap is stuck in there.

If it's not lifted with bigger tires then I doubt this is it. Never hurts to check though.

You could also remove the passenger seat and a couple trim pieces and pull the carpet back and see if there's anything obvious under there like a loose grommet or something.

After a hard storm I found my passenger area was wet for no reason.

Could a drainage line that could have come loose?

pic is from the internet, not a Tacoma:

Does the taco have the roof drain even without a moonroof?

I seem to recall someone having a wet passenger floorboard and the leaking had come from the back sliding window.

Anyhow, I see numerous threads on wet passenger floorboards so you might search other threads.

Mine 2012 leaked after a very heavy rain also. It doesn't seem to leak in a normal rain storm though.

Well I just ran the hose over the whole thing for about 15 minutes and nothing. Not a drop on the inside. Plot thickens...
