I'm working out of town and my wife said my dealership wrote a letter saying they want to trade my 2014 TRD Off Road for the same in a 2016, or just buy it outright.

I'm guessing they have no idea what I've done to the truck. Here's what I'm running

Toytec/Bilstein 5100 front lift, Dakar rear leafs with OME Nitrocharger Sports, LR UCAs, Cooper Discoverer ATP 285/75r16, fog lights anytime, ABS kill switch, weathertech floor liners, Softopper, smashed 7-pin connector (my favorite mod so far), pop-n-lock tailgate, rear diff breather mod, "satoshi" grill, Rigid Dually floods on CBI ditch brackets, BAMF behind the grill mount with Rigid D2 Hyperspots, Redline hood struts, TRD exhaust, Pelfreybilt IFS skid, Pelfreybilt hidden winch mount with Warn M8000. That's all I can think of so far.

Worth it? I wouldn't mind the new conveniences added to the 2016 interior, but this truck has performed so well and I've driven it through 31 states in every terrain imaginable and I'm wary of starting over. I took delivery July 27th, 2014 and I have roughly 38000 miles on it today.

I get letters from the local dealer wanting my Tacoma. You can be sure they are looking out for their bottom line not your best interest.

Show us a pic of the "letter" so we can be 100% certain but my money is on that it is a generic letter everyone gets as an attempt to drive more sales traffic.
Hate to burst your bubble but dealers send these out sorta like bait and they want people to bite, come to the dealer, and then try and sale them.

I figured it was more or less like you said. There's no bubble to burst here. It'll probably be 'well we could trade yours in for xxx but your mods blah blah"

Yeah they will find anything to weasel out of their "offer" on the letter.
No worries though man, enjoy your truck!

Secondary air filter removal, K&N drop in, Removed front mud flaps, Toyota all weather matts, skid plate, bug guard. Bilstein 5100's all around fronts set at 2.5", OME add a leaf, Goodyear Wrangler Authority 265/70/17, stubby 6.5" antenna, smoked tail lights, blacked out badges.
They just want to talk you into a trade for their benefit. I.E. You will be making payments on that 2016.

As a general rule, stock vehicles are worth more to them because they appeal to a wider range of consumers.

Why roll the dice with the problematic 2016, when you have a reliable 2nd gen already?

Buried in the fine print on the letter is a disclaimer based on mileage. They want you to buy a new truck, and they think they have an inside track because you already own one. They are probably right. But, they are not offering a better deal than if you just drop in looking to trade-up. Good luck. Unless you had a great time building your truck the way you wanted it, and can't wait to do another build, I'd hold on to your 2014. Heck, I'm holding onto my 2010, and I didn't do half the stuff you did.

Everybody gets those letters from the dealership. I get them all the time. It's just their way of trying to convince you that you need a new truck, nothing special about your truck or circumstance or anything. It's just a way to get someone to think about trading up, but they personalize it to make it sound like its some kind of exclusive offer

We had, I shit you not, a '08 or '09 with a complete 2.5 Icon/TotalChaos +2 setup in the front (with externals and all), and a leaf under kit in the rear with Icon 2.0s. The guy swapped his stock bumpers and wheels/tires on and NO ONE noticed what it was. I'm the last person to touch a car before it goes to the front line and in the certification marks it said "Demoted, aftermarket lift". I've never been so tempted to steal something in my life. No one would've noticed. Can't believe the guy trading let his suspension go to waste like that, and can't believe no one at the dealership noticed the wider front end WITH EXTERNAL RESEVIORS STICKING OUT. They sold it for no more than any old Tacoma, someone got a steal.

People who act on those letters keep the economy moving.

Up to you if you want to be a contributor or not. :D

(Rest assured, no 'deals' are offered that are in the customers best interest. Just sayin')

Me too...in fact, I still get letters from a Dodge dealer wanting my 2011 Ram that I got rid of 14 months ago. They're automatically generated, hoping to make people think their trucks are something special haha...
