Not happening. Thinking I will just try this bypass and wait patiently until they finally do a recall or extend the warranty on the parts like they did the Tundra. Been such a PITA.

This is the first I've heard about it and sorry I have no feed back to help. I know your studying but maybe some day you can explain what this part does. It sounds like its emission related.

A guy on toyota tacoma enthusiasts had the same issue. He called and called and called they accepted to replace them and his harness or something along that line

There are many threads on here about it but this one has been the most informative and pretty much any forums on the Tundra problems they have had in the past. I just wish Toyota would man up and fix the issue cause there are about to be a lot of these going out as the 2012+ models start getting more miles and this isn't a problem I want to deal with every 50,000 miles. Sad thing is the whole design is bad so looks like that might be the case, has had me second thinking trading in my truck for something else without this design flaw :/

I have seen maybe 4 people out of the 15-20 I have read on here that have actually got Toyota to actually cover it all. But those were under the 3/36,000 mile warranty and most the people having these parts fail are around 45,000-60,000 miles.

I only have 49,000 and blows my mind I need a expensive repair like this.
I did see where Toyota has offered some "goodwill" money to a few folks towards the repair of $300 lol
If they don't pay 100% bypass is the route to go IMO
Just wish I could find more guys that have done it to see how well it has been performing.

I don't mind the technology INSIDE the cab. But I can't stand all the BS they add to my engine bay. Just so much computer crap, give me an engine not a glorified super computer under my hood to screw up.

@slcsez2000 just so you know. Sounds similar to the problem as the 4R's and the tundra v8. On my mother's 4R I did the bypass and it still pulls a code but it doesn't fall into limp mode anymore, so there is still the check engine light but it took whichever codes away that put it into the limp. Been working for ovwr a year now. Hope this helps, don't know if it's the same problem.

Again Thanks, I'm seriously thinking about adding a extended warranty on my truck. I'll look into the different ones offered and what they cover. I've never had one on the 4 Tacos I've owned due to there reliability. I plan on having this truck for a long time.

Yeah looks like the new bypass keeps those codes clear from what I have been reading. Still just totally shocked not much is being done for the other Toyota vehicles this is happening to. Will prob get a call back from Toyota Corporate again tomorrow in which I will be giving them the ultimatum pay 100% to fix my truck by Wed or else I am trading for a ford or Chevy and never buying another Toyota vehicle again...in which I bluff big time and just purchase the bypass lol.
But they don't need to know that.

Better get it in writing that it will specifically cover that part. I have read even guys with that "platinum" Toyota warranty have been denied coverage. From what I hear even if warranty covers the part once then you get to
Foot the bill for the next time it goes out. Not sure how true that is but I read it in a couple spots. Seems like the cheapest thing to do is buy the bypass and throw it on as preventative maintenance therefore keeping your unbroken parts good and you can always take it back off to sell later if need be.
