so I have a 2011 base model aclb and I would really like to add a set of led fogs or like a pair of rigid dually etc. In the front bumper it already has holes in the bumper that look like there for this exactly. Now my main?? for the good folks of TW is that I'm wondering if they already have wiring to sort of plug and play an aftermarket set. Any one who delt with this or anyone who has an answer I would greatly appreciate input on the subject here's a photo of what im talking about with the cut outs already being there

    Same as everybody else...
Your truck should be prewired for fogs. Look up underneath of the forward fender and you should see the wiring there secured with a cable tie. I added the large round lights, similar to OEM, that I bought from Amazon. You'll need the fuse and switch to finish, I recommend OEM. Its pretty much plug and play, you tube has a few nice videos

Exactly what I did. I got lucky and found a guy on Craigslist. Went to the dealership for a switch and relay.. chatted with the desk guy for a minute and ended up with a sweet deal.

Now if I could just find a write up on how to do the "grey wire mod" for the base model

I suspect you will not find a plug and play harness in your truck. Several models did come through already wired with connectors behind the left side of dash and each of the two holes in your bumper. But, I believe the base models were never pre-wired. If I'm wrong, good luck for you. My 2010 SR5 did not have the wire harness. I bought a set of OEM lights, from a member here on TW, and, I had to coble together a set of wire runs, find/add a circuit, and switch, to get mine to work.

    Fogs.jpg

But glad I did, I live and drive in an area with many back roads unmarked by center or side lines, and populated by plenty of white tail deer which tend to wait along the side of the road, then jump out in front of vehicles.

Good luck, you will appreciate the added low aimed and side lighting.

I used to have a 2009 base model double-cab, and it was pre-wired (easy to tell, just look for an unused wire and plug near where the light would go). Like others have said, just need the relay and switch. The switches in the eBay kits look like they would fit, but they don't, just get the OEM one.

the Amazon fog light kit may provide you with a deal on the wiring, relay and switch if they are not already there. I installed this set and like them so far.
The switch isn't perfect, the light from the lamp symbol bleeds into the on/off indicator, but all were good fits and an easy project.

Exactly this. My '09 2.7 base was not prewired. I bought this same kit over a year ago and have been very happy with it. As mentioned above, my only gripe is it's hard to tell when the switch is on or off because the light brightness in the switch indicator doesn't change much. You can still tell my the depth of the button though, as it is recessed more when on.

Nor was my base '10. Got a kit on Amazon and a member here had it running in an hour or less. 3 plus yrs and no issues yet.

+1 on the Amazon kit. I used this to help install https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/non-oem-fog-light-install-on-anytime.3990/

I found the same problem with that switch. Take the switch apart and cut the bulb out that is always on. Boom, when the light is on, so are the lights.

the reason I started this thread really was because I've been wanting to upgrade my headlights to like a 6000k hid with the halo ring projector like the whole assembly. so needless to say I've been looking through all kinds of setups people are running here on TW and I came across a member's rig that had exactly the headlight assembly I'm interested in but he also had the 6000k in the fogs as well and having both with the 6000k it looked wicked awesome any one also running a similar setup I'd love to see pics

It lets you turn the fogs on without the headlights.

My base-model (2015 DCSB, V6, 4x4) was pre-wired from factory. Must be a certain config that comes with harnesses already behind the bumper.

I got this kit as well for my last taco. It also allows you to keep your fogs on with your high beams, or just by them selves.

My 09 base Prerunner was pre wired for the fogs and intermittent wipers. I bought a cruise control but haven't got around to that yet. Look under the truck, if it's pre wired you can tell.
