Not, not your friends....I use my truck for daily driver but also leave my tool bucket in the back of my truck (was in my trunk before) at all times, but I'm trying to find a good way to keep my levels and tool bucket packed back there.

For now I've got just the seat behind the driver side with the bottom of the seat leaned up, but the seat back still in its normal position with my bucket sitting down in the hole.

Anyone else packing tools around the inside of ther truck at all times? Any creative spots or platforms? There's no great FLAT platform spot back there to set my took box/bucket on so I've gotta seatbelt it in.

you could just remove the seats and build a platform.

I'd love to have something removable and keep the seats in place so if we do need to load up with a couple people one night for dinner or something, we can. Right now I've just got a black fleece blanket folded up and my tool box/bucket sitting on the plastic storage top

I'd remove the one behind the drivers seat, and maybe even the upper section also.

But leave the 60 side all in place. You might not be able to depending in kids/pets or needs to have to use the seat behind you to put a person again.

I envision making a secure tie down location between the bolts used to mount the rear lower hinges and the rear seat track bolts from the drivers seat.

I have one of those Rubbermaid Action Packer tubs in the back of my truck bungee corded in place. Eventually, I'll get a camper top to provide a little more security.... I don't put valuable tools in there though.... not until I get a camper top anyways.

Toolbox in the bed wouldn't be an option because it soaks up too much of the short bed, and the bed is already short. I was thinking something like green bean suggested...or some sort of organizer that sits in there somewhere that I can set this tool bucket in.

The good news is that our 2 and 4ft levels slide right in the gap underneath the back sections of the seats so I was able to hide those.

    +1.

Or, build a platform based on the seats folded down.

I have an access cab and was considering the same thing. I might just sell my Mig buy a Tig and make something that I like from aluminum.

Even a tool box that rides over the hump, but would still allow you to stick a 4X8 piece of ply in the bed?

If so, I'd think you need to build a container..... maybe one that sits on the back of the back seat when folded flat.

Who not just fold the rear seats down and lay a piece of carpet or rubber matting on top to keep your shit from sliding around? And when you want to put people back there just fold the seats back up. I mean, really is it that much trouble to fold the seats up and down? That's kind of the whole point of having that feature. Fold seats down and store shit/tools back there, fold seats up and put people back there. No need to reinvent the wheel here.

search in here for for the backseat dog platform! A member in here set it up for his dog and it sounds like you can do this for your tools, I have same problem but haven't had time to build it. Good luck.
