Finally about to reach 10,000 miles on my SR5 w/ Tow Package.

Going in to get my oil change and hopefully have them fix a paint bubble on the hood :annoyed: so I should be leaving it overnight.

I haven't encountered any shifting problems, but I do plan on asking them to check the transmission fluid levels.

I don't have any hood vibration issues, but I did notice the glue(?) that is supposed to connect it has separated in a few areas.

What else should I ask them to check?

    U-Joints?

I know I am forgetting something

maybe leafspring u-bolts and also perform any software updates.

also, take printouts of any tsb's to be sure... many SA's are not versed to the second with what this forum knows...

Blinker fluid. Make sure they check that. Usually goes overlooked.

I just got a 55 gal drum of that blinker fluid. Thought it would be a good idea to have on hand :)

Lol. They just changed our corporate policy, we now have to take all customer non factory floor mats outs (minus weather tech digi fit or similar) and put them in the trunk/cargo area of the vehicle and notify the customers of the dangers. Lol gotta love it

That sucks. If I brought my truck in for service and picked it up and someone removed my floor mats and put them in the bed, I would get a little upset. Wouldn't it be best just to have the service advisor inform of the potential danger and just keep your hands off my mats.

Yep, I can't wait until someone freaks out, and someone will. But I'm going to do what I'm told, just to appease them. And when shit hits the fan I'll be sure to have my face mask on. I'm expecting right around the time the snow flies, that'll be the time the shit flies too

Are all these dealerships doing these things for you guys if you ask??

I went in for my 5000 and they said anything not in the 5000 would be charged extra. They wouldn't even road force balance my tires for me even though I complained of a low frequency vibration at 65 mph. Then when I offered to take the tech on a test drive they said they didn't have time to go on the freeway! So they just took down all my concerns and wrote "unable to reproduce" next to them. Should have been "unwilling to try to reproduce."

Do I just need to find a different dealership? This is my first brand new car/truck with a warranty. I'm used to doing maintenance myself or balancing at discount tire (which always did it for free in the past since I bought my tires there).

First I'd ask to speak to The Service Dept Manager for that dealership giving you a hard time. If they are still unsupportive, let them know you'll be sure to thump em' on the Customer Survey that Toyota Corporate sends out since they don't have time to support their customer's needs. Next find a different dealership service dept more willing to LISTEN and SUPPORT.

They told me I'd have to come back to make a new appointment and maybe they would go for a longer ride. But I think I was already on the shit list after they tried to tell me the freeway was too far away (few miles) and that they diagnose all problems driving up and down the street. I called bullshit on their ability to diagnose issues properly then since they obviously aren't going up and down a 40mph street at 60-70 mph for higher speed complaints.

So you're right, best is probably to find a new dealership....

The truck is designed to operate on a variety of roadways, the freeway being one of them so I agree with you they should be willing to hit the highway. I can understand if they need you to schedule extra time up front to take it on a freeway spin. You'll just have to build that into the plan next time you call them. If you show up for an oil change and tire rotation, they aren't planning to spend 30 minutes to an hour driving the vehicle out and about, I can understand that. I'd be very clear up front (not that you weren't) with what your intentions are when you set up the appointment. Expectations management!

They will do an oil change for you. You just have to ask them to perform the 10k maintenance at 5k. You will lose your 5k and 10k service by doing this, but I didn't care.

Scotty99 is much nicer than I am, I would have told them other things if they refused to even recognize my complaints. But I have 50 service departments within 50 miles so maybe thats why
