Nick - can you give me more detail on which "ignition on" wire you used in this application?

Nick - are both your Fuse Blocks "always on" or are they on only when ignition is "on"?
    Thanks,

While you were out at Mono Lake did you happen to venture north and go through the old ghost town of Bodie? We went through there on a family trip when I was fairly young and will never forget that place. Then again the flies around Mono Lake win as the most memorable, so so wild.

Sure. It's the green wire that's directly above the tip of the arrow in the photo. That wire is only hot when the ignition is on.

Always on. Same goes for the factory fuse blocks as well.

Multimeter, and automotive test light are your friends. :). Did you get your switch for your compressor? You could always use the factory ARB one. That's what I'd do to save $$

Thanks! Sounds awesome! Do you remember how old you were when you were there?

I wish, but no... On this trip we only went as far as the Mono Basin visitor center.

I'd like to experience the lake up close and personal. It's perplexing to me like the Salton Sea is.

I can't remember where I saw them, but I've seen photos or video from scuba divers in Mono Lake and the Tufa formations as seen from below the waterline are likes freaks of nature. They can be quite extensive.

I've not ventured to Bodie yet. I'd really like to explore up there, just need to carve time out and make it the destination.

Time is my biggest battle. Not enough time in this world to see all the things I want to see before I die. Haha. :)

They are some thieves running around tampering with gas pumps in SoCal. Apparently what happens is, one or more of them has knowledge of how to rig up the pump so it does not register that fuel is flowing. Then all his buddies line up to use the one designated pump and they fill up all day before anyone catches on. It actually works better at busy gas stations since people often wait in line for the pumps as opposed to a sleepy gas station with fewer customers. These guys get more clever everyday. I'm sure you just happened on one such scenario and ruined it for the rest of them. Haha!

Could have been! I'd hate to know it was because of criminal activity. :(

The station in question had recently replaced the central "island" POS terminals, with Diebold labeled POS terminals at each pump, although I think under the label it's actually a Cyrptera MPS 8000. I could be wrong here, really wrong, it may have been a VeriFone POS system... lol I'll have to get a closer look next time.

So I'm hoping it was an implementation error on behalf the station, or some random EM field which greatly inconvenienced a large number of electrons causing me to catch a small break! lol

Your truck looks great! I love that color on the Tacoma. Once or twice mine looked close in color due to desert dust. :D lol

    Welcome. Great work.

Thanks. Loved reading his books growing up. :)

That's awesome. There is a Glock pistol in there. Ha-ha! Glad to see it! I thought of doing a photo like that with an array of mags, mad-max, thunder dome, et al. Ha-ha.

I started shaping a piece of aluminum flat bar to make a custom mount for two compact voltmeters. Then I decided to make the mounts magnetic. Project stalled before last trip... Will pick it back up sometime in the future.

On the last trip, I ran a 7" and two 4.7"devices plus an old Garmin. Each served a different purpose. Mounts worked excellent, and passed the initial very rocky, bumpy, off road 5 mile test.

Thanks! I'm a big fan of the MGM color. It's was a toss-up between the Gray Metallic or Pyrite at the time of ordering my truck and I decided on the Pyrite.

Today I retired the Tacoma from daily driver status, with 68,336 miles.

Bought brand new on Sunday, May 31, 2009,
To and including: Sunday, July 10, 2016

It's been 2,598 days of 100% pure joy.

7 years, 1 month, 11 days including today.

My daily is now a Chevy Caviler 04, that my wife has driven since 05. It's all stock, all original components except normal wearables, new fuel pump put in in 2014 (shop work), and I replaced the fuel pressure regulator. I also swapped in new suspension in 2015. It's got 3M tint all the way around. 118K miles on the ODO. Gonna run it for a few more years. I look forward to a new chapter in my automotive adventures lol

She bought a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder with one of the nice upgrade packages. It has all wheel drive, or some kind of drive train selection modes. Her main criteria was lots of room with the third row seating. She is quite happy. She plans to keep it for a while, I hope it lasts and is reliable. I don't know too much about it. But as time goes on, I hope to learn more...

    :)

Nice! All that means is you can tackle larger projects on it that may otherwise have left you without a ride!
