Took mine to round rock today and had it done along with my 5k inspection. Shifts felt better as well as not trying to go to 6th gear doing 30 mph. Feels more like what I expected. Cruise control held 6th doing 75. Only thing that remains the same is having to drop down a couple gears on steep hills which is power related not transmission. Service tech is a friend so I know everything was done that I asked. From me on the update.

I too am both a Toyota and , previously, a big F150 fan. Had a few of each different generations. I am extremely hopeful that mine is good when I get it back tomorrow. I too have high standards. I will be glad to see the new Ranger and drive it. Some of the pictures look decent, some look not so good and a couple look great. I love my truck and hope the warranty work restores my confidence. I sold a 2014 V8 f150 and a 2008 Prerunner double V6 to buy this truck. Still on the fence as whether it was a good decision. I don't think anything will compare to the look and feel of the Tacoma. The Colorado LOOKS good but not real confident in them. But I too want a new truck to be fairly trouble free for at least 150k miles like my previous Tacomas and F150's.

Just got my truck back after 5 days. Replaced crankshaft position sensor after it died on the road. Performed a physical check on trans fluid (1/2 qt low) and completed this TSB (thanks!). SEEMS to shift a little better at better points, but could be optimistic bias on my part. I want to believe I can keep this truck for at least a decade!

Had my truck in this morning and they said they would gladly do the flash if it was available. However, they just called and confirmed there isn't anything available in Canada. They said things get released faster in the US and it would make it up here at some point. Lucky I only have very minor symptoms.

Let me tell you a story about my previous vehicle. In 2011 I bought a new 2012 Ford Focus which was a new model year that included a newly designed transmission (dual clutch 6 speed). The transmission had significant shifting issues and I went through 3 or 4 TSBs for ECU flashes. It was so bad they extended the warranty from 5 to 7 years on the transmission. None of the ECU updates made the transmission 100%, but each was a significant improvement over the other. I think that's all that can be expected from this flash, a significant improvement over the original, but still some remaining quirks. For those that say it will revert back to the original, that is absolutely stupid. I have some doubts that Toyota would issue a TSB and cover the warranty costs for a fix that reverts to the original state. I've already been down this road with a much shittier brand and have a belief I'm in a much better position than I was with the Focus. Every vehicle is going to have its quirks, you just need to deal with it.

I spoke with the service manager at my local canadian dealership this AM. He also said the same thing but was going to try and have it available before I take mine in for a scheduled service in a couple weeks. Fingers Crossed.

I think the reverts thing is not that the software will revert but that it is hard to gauge how effective the TSB is because many of us had our ECU flashed/reset previous to the ECU TSB. This flash/reset always made the truck drive a bit better for awhile but then the trans would go back to poor habits. So without time on the system it is difficult to say whether it is actually an improvement due to the TSB or if it's just an improvement due to the ECU being flashed and reset which has to happen in the process of applying this new TSB

Had mine done at Toyota Carlsbad, they first said they had to duplicate it and I kinda freaked a little, I drove 45 min there and he said leave it. so he called a Tech and he said if the VIN number was in the TSB he will just do it. It just clogs the service bay if I keep bringing it in.. I told the guy I wouldn't be here if it wasn't doing it. I never brought it in because I knew there was not a fix yet. Anyway its done and Ill see in the morning if its good.

Are they plugging into the OBDII port to do this flash or somewhere else ?

Anyone think it has something to do with larger tire sizes vs smaller affecting the shift points and performance ???
I am running 245/75/R16 and have no complaints in 1000 miles.

Dealer claimed they did my TSB update today. I'm out of town won't be able to pick up the truck until Tuesday. They did not give me any pushback. Truck is already in the shop for field tech rep to investigate my leaf spring issue. I merely sent an email to the service manager with TSB PDF attached and asked them if they could apply it. We will see how it goes....

I've heard it's far worse with larger tires

I am running 245/75/R16 because I need it for tow and have zero complaints. Interesting.
Would be interesting if people report their tire size with tranny praises/complaints.

4WD jeeps, car, 2016 Tundra Pro still.
    Its a 6 cyl, not a V8. I don't expect major low end torque.
As paranoid as I am about this and constantly watching it, it runs great. And my VIN is in the TSB too. It's pretty much perfect really.
As far as fun to drive the Tundra Pro is a blast :burnrubber:

Don't have your truck serviced at Community Toyota in Baytown, TX. They told me the TSB didn't exist.

Yes I will send you my PayPal info, I am releasing this info for a low charge of $349.99 with the disclaimer that there is only a 50% chance your dealer will actually apply the TSB without being able to replicate the symptoms and a 30% chance of success rate.
