Yesterday the dealership performed the TSB. Drove home and felt so much better. It was on a few miles so couldn't really check it all out. This morning drive to the gym and man its 100% better. Took the long way and the shift points are better so much smoother. No hesitation at all..

Hopefully, part of the update was improvements in the adaptive learning logic.

Called the dealership yesterday to setup coming in for the TSB. First they said I'd have to leave the truck overnight.. I asked why? They had NO answer at all... Just said that's what the service department said... I asked to be transferred directly to the service department manager. After a 5 minute talk they told me to come in this morning and they'd get it done in about 2 hours or so...

So I'm here now... Waiting.... 1 hour down... Still don't understand why it'll take 2 hours... But at least they are doing it... Hopefully LOL

I there any way to verify that the TSB was actually done? I did not get any sort of sticker or marking which they are suppose to do, but it is in the paperwork.

Just had mine updated at my 5k service. I brought in a printout of the TSB, and they did it without any fuss. It does shift differently, but I'm also assuming that the tranny is back in learning mode. I'll give it some time before making final judgement.

I also noticed their tech greasing my drive shaft zerks!

Of course, I also got my windshield cracked on the way to the dealer. A rock flew off a Jeep's tire while getting on the freeway. :annoyed:

Well that was quicker than they said thankfully.

All done. No sticker. They said they don't have any of the stickers yet.

    UPDATE:

It's only been day 2 but the difference to me has been very noticeable since the Reflash.

For some people on here sounds like the difference wasn't much for them, I can't speculate if my truck was driving worse than theirs before but in the city and on the freeway the engine feel a lot more responsive.

ACCELERATION: Truck no longer feels like it holds the revs very low then surges forward when trying to compensate by pushing the pedal down.

COASTING: Truck no longer feels like I'm towing a trailer behind me when coasting, before it felt as if I was towing something very heavy that was holding the truck back. Now it seems to coast at higher gears for a longer period of time.

GAS: the gas did seem to increase about 1 to 2 MPG so far but will keep my eye on that for awhile see if I see any permanent changes haven't been paying too much attention to the MPG.

SHIFTING: truck feels like it shifts smoother and at higher points, first couple shifts would feel very laggy and unconfident before the reflash, now it seems to shift faster and feels a lot more like a truck, on viagra.

as far as people wondering if it's just the ECU that got cleared, on my paperwork it says "UPDATED ECM WITH TSB 007716" and not "CLEARED/RESET ECM" I'm not sure what everyone else's paperwork says but I would think if they just cleared the ECU they would've stated it on the paper work.

But overall I am VERY happy with the way it drives now, and really hope more members who don't like the way their taco drives get the TSB done. thanks guys for all the help and knowledge on this forum, if it wasn't for this forum I would still be driving something overtime that I would not be completely satisfied with.

I just had the TSB performed. It drives like a new vehicle. So happy that you guys posted this. I was getting by but experienced all three items in the TSB. After driving about 30 miles from the dealer, it appears to have addressed all of the issues.

Took them ~30 minutes to do the TSB on my truck, including the test drive after....

I got my 5k service and the TSB all done in less than 2 hours. They were hesitant at first to do the TSB. They said they didn't know if they could fit it in today or not. I said I'd wait. Next thing I know, they were done.

I really didn't notice issues too often before the re-flash... Occasionally there was a delay between park and drive...Not really a delay... More like it felt like it jolted into gear... Hard to explain... Didn't go into gear smoothly... Once using cruise control the transmission felt like it was lost in a hilly area... I just figured that was expected since it was going up and down lots of hills... I haven't used cruise control since...

Anyways... Drove home... Almost an hour... Drives smooth. Goes into gear smooth... Less than 2 hours of my time... No complaints.

    Regarding "the sticker":
It is just an Authorized Dealer Modification" sticker. It is not specific to Tacoma, or any particular TSB. Every dealer should have stacks of the stickers available for use on any Toyota vehicle requiring mods or updates.

Just more lying from the dealers.

I don't think that it is just a reset given the sticker indicates that the vehicle has been modified. Got a 300 mile road trip next week can't wait to see how cruise control works!

They were pretty busy today and still had me done in Less than 2 hours... That includes a car wash too. That i Didn't expect...

Prolly Didn't start it for an hour after i got there... There was a lot of vehicles ahead of mine.

Made me really wonder why the first person wanted me to leave it overnight... I already had the transmission filled to proper level a month or 2 ago... That took about 5 hours... Still not overnight.

Had it done yesterday. Dealer was happy to do it and it only took 30 minutes. I told him about other dealerships giving people a hard time. He didn't understand and said "even if they gave a hard time you could pay them $45 in labor to do it"

    Truck feels snappier so far.
Hasn't up shifted so quickly as I drive up hills. Still need to drive more to make sure it's not all in my mind.

Right but to update the software puts the ECU in learning mode again so we are wondering how much of the positive results are due to the learning mode being reset vs permanent fix from the TSB. It will probably take 3 to 4 weeks to really know

I partially agree with this; it feels like it has reset the learning mode similar to when I first bought the truck, but at the same time it shifts quite a bit different than when I got the truck. It will, no doubt, take at the very least a few weeks to see how much of a change this really made, but I am optimistic. It's a very noticeable change in 2nd and 3rd gear, it definitely holds the gear longer during normal driving. It didn't act like that when I brought it home from the dealer the first day I owned it.
