I dont know if anyone has brought this up before or not, why not use a 1/4 or 1/2 spacer instead of putting in a 14" 700lb coil. I may have read something maybe in the ICON vendor thread that kinda negates this thinking, i.e. 700lb coil add. But have heard no real negatives with such a small spacer up top to provide 1/2 to 1" of extra lift, there by not having to preload the coils any more beyond your 2" or so of lift to achieve a total of 2 1/2 to 3" of total lift with the spacers....
Anyone done this with ICON Coilovers?

i thought about doing that bt adding spacers to a coilover is the greatest thing to do on an adjustable coilover. it makes the top hat more prone to damage. a longer stronger coil would probably benefit as to the truck is heavier in the front. ive seen a few guys do the same and liked the results. i actually talked to the guy who rebuilds the coilovers at icon and he said it was not a bad idea to do the swap

Nice looking trucks in this thread guys! I know mines not a 3rd gen but I think I'm like stage 7953 on my 2008 :anonymous:

My 16 will be getting a Stage 3 setup shortly, perfect kit for the GF to cruise around town on

Yep, its not a bad idea to put a 700lb 14" coil on, I think the OEM are 712lbs or so. I think the argument comes around expectations of more lift with less preload...search for it as I am sure I just read about it on an ICON related thread...If it all works out I may swap my coils at rebuild time as well..

Oh ok. Thanks man. I assumed people were talking about total lift and not the amount of thread showing. My bad. Well has anybody been able to crank them to the maximum 2" and snap some pics? And does the 2.13" maximum recommended crank factor in the need to limit for the extra downtravel?

    None yet!
I have... mine are cranked down at about 2 inches of thread. Here is a pic. Not sure about the down-travel though. Would be interested to hear some feedback on that as well. Just put my lift on and haven't had a chance to go wheelin' yet :)

What exactly are you driving, I see it is a 16 DCSB, is it a TRDOR 4x4? That would be valuable information to have related to running 285's on an ICON lift and no rub?

Do everyone a favor and post your specs...

Look under the vendors/ICON threads there is a bit o talk about it...
To clarify I would pull in one of the ICON boys as they monitor this thread and they can share with details....

I committed to Cooper STT Pro 285/70/17's on Method NV's with a stage 4 kit, plan on some cutting and maybe a CMC. Although I never have done a CMC it does not look like a big deal to do it yourself, I'm all in.,,still waiting on parts. It's the psychological part of cutting and welding on your truck, if it was any more I would have to opt for a smaller wheel and tire combo.

Just put this all on last weekend. I did a Icon stage 3 with the tubular UCA's. I did not mess with the coils too much yet, they are both sitting with about 1 7/8" thread showing. I did the BFG KO2's 285/75/r16, no rubbing or trimming at all so far.

Did you measure how much lift you got both front and rear?
