Lift tutorial???

yes I am being lazy, but I did look and couldn't find any......

Is there any install tutorials on Old Man Emu 3" lifts on 2nd gen Tacomas? Mine is a 2013 double cab Trd.......and a light racing UCA tutorial would be awesome as well.

no problem, theres a Total Chaos UCA install stickied. wont show much in comparison to the lightracing ones aside from removal/install of actual control arm,

 

It's all pretty straight forward, but I like to be shown things like this instead of going in blind. It's the little things that make it go smooth.

 

1: crack a beer
2: put truck on jack stands
3: wipe brow, complain about heat, grab another beer
4: spend 20 minutes trying to find the correct sockets/wrenches, curse profusely and complain about who left your toolbox unorganized when they borrowed it 5 years ago
5: crack another beer
6: bump head on wheel well while removing front suspension
7: grab a cold beer and use it as in ice pack on your head. Drink after 5 minutes
8: reinstall new front suspension
9: proudly look at your half completed accomplishment. Order a pizza for lunch. Have a beer
10: Install rear suspension
11: wipe brow, complain about heat, and drink a beer while taking one final rest break
12: have a beer while putting wheels back on and torquing
13: look at your accomplishment, and realize you can't drive it till the next day or you'll get arrested for DUI
14: drink another beer in victory
15: wash your hands with dish soap for 20 minutes because you were too dumb to buy Gojo or Fast Orange
16: complain about a sore lower back until bedtime



NOTE: I may have missed a few steps regarding actual removal and installation.

 

I think you got it. Dakar leaf packs account for #16. When I did mine, I was too excited to get it done in a hurry so I only had 50% of required beers...big mistake. Oh and no pizza...WTF, right?

On a serious note...if you're going to be swapping UCAs, follow the Total Chaos tutorial on YouTube for the front end. Remove the UCAs, swap in the new front struts, then put the new UCAs in. You won't have to dick with removing the tie rods and stuff. I was able to dislodge my spindles from my upper ball joints with a ball pein hammer. Yours may be more rusty than mine, so have a ball joint separator handy before you start.

 

Sums up my whole lifting process but mine was split between 2 days. Needed twice as much beer and pizza.

Since all my friends suck, no one to help me. That list will be me on Saturday. Still gotta get chocks, torque wrench, deep socket set, 6 ton lift stands, and don’t forget the beer and pizza.

still cheaper than $800 for someone to install it.

 

Yup, already scoped out the 6 ton jacks from HF. May go to lowes for other items for veteran discount. Thanks for the heads up. I’m starting to think I should’ve stayed stock for the lifetime of this truck.
