Just had mine done today at Toyota of Tampa Bay, went smoothly, Service Advisor said I was first to come in with the issue and didn't know about the TSB, but I printed it and he told me to leave it on the seat for the tech. I had an appointment, but he said they were very busy and behind schedule, told me it would be two hours, ended up taking about an hour. Truck drove great on the ride home, but my real test will be the Reverse to Drive delay when cold, that was my biggest issue, took 3-5 seconds. It did sometimes have a harsh shift after coasting, sometimes when I stepped on the gas again it lurch like it was in the wrong gear, I didn't notice that on the drive home today. I didn't feel I had any other crazy highway shifting like some are experiencing.
Anyway, Service Advisor said once all done they will be ready for more trucks to come in for it now that they know about it.
No sticker but I don't care about the sticker as long as it works.

Update. No sticker for me either, but drives much better. Already confirmed r to d issue and lack of engagement. Just had a chance to try cruise control and it is much more refined. Shifting between gears is much smoother.

I did not have a surge before, but do now until truck is completely warm. If this is your only issue I don't think you have one. Performance was lacking especially down low for me and from r to d. The engine is now closer to my beloved 2005 tundra v8. That think was smooth, powerful, quiet, but a bit thirsty even for a 2wd.

Had the TSB update done Yesterday and noticed a big improvement. The only concern I still have is the brakes. Still have this vibration when coming to a stop. Did tell them to check that as well and told me everything was fixed with the update. Will wait another week or so to see if it improves. Ticket has been open regarding my issue. Keep you posted. I have a 16 TRD sport, 4x4

Thank you for the info. I thought this was a engine breaking in issue. I only have 1000 miles...

First long trip - vacation to adirondacks. About 3 hours of highway driving and an elevation differential of about +1300 ft. Carrying about 700 lbs of gear. Lots of big hills along the way. Shifted great for the entire trip. Used ECT only once for a very short period. I think I heard a couple strange new noises but I need to see if they were anomolies. I got about 22 MPG. Plenty of power on hills. There is one part of the old ECU mappings that I liked and is now gone. On highways, it used to go into this "cruising" mode where it would hang in higher gears, but still eeked out enough torque to maintain and even slowly build speed while keeping MPG higher. Now on even or higher grades the engine is forced into the lower gear to give the extra torque and MPG drops a lot. Can't get into that sweet spot anymore for cruising above 60+ mph. The shifting benefits from 0 - 60 are more then worth it tho. Don't get me wrong. It still shifts fine above 60 mph also. But it doesn't run the same. Almost like it would be cool to have the new update for 0 - 60 and the original for above 60 mph. No to try to find a place to stretch the 4x4 legs.

I'm driving coast-to-coast and passed 15K miles near Salt Lake City, so took it to Brent Brown Toyota in Orem. They were very helpful squeezing me in on my schedule w/o an appointment, though admittedly there isn't much to the 15K service. Anyway, I asked about this TSB and specifically mentioned slow or no upshifts with CC on. I had put in a lot of freeway and mountain miles in the last three days and definitely noticed that if I was driving about 65-68, at steady throttle, and cycled the CC, rpm would drop about 200-300 with CC off but I could still easily hold the speed. Presumably it was up shifting from 5th to 6th or maybe just locking the torque converter. Anyway, when I picked up the truck the Service Advisor said there was no update available. I was in a hurry so I'll wait till the next service or I'm back home ... I've gotten used to the way it is and frankly think I can manipulate the gears better than the computer, using ECT and S mode. The Service Writer also specifically told me they checked the tire pressures. One of my tires was a bit low, and when they rotated the tires that one moved to the front. Since it took a few miles before the TPMS registered, I saw they hadn't touched it and was still low. I just aired up myself at a gas station later. So far, I've driven from the sea level on the Pacific Coast to near the Colorado/Oklahoma border, mostly highway, but some back roads, lots of hills and some mild four-wheeling near Moab, as well as ferocious winds in places, and have averaged 20.6 mpg. This is with a heavily loaded DCSB TRD OffRoad 4wd with a rooftop tent sticking 20" above Cab height. I'm happy!

On Thursday morning (7-28-16) I received the TSB update for the transmission shifting issues. Prior to the TSB update my truck had the P to D delay, shift flair from 1st to 2nd, the crazy downshifting issues when running at 60+mph in cruise control, a thump on the downshift when coming to a stop and worst of all, the refusal to downshift when accelerating out of a turn. In short, the shift points were horrible. The transmission just felt like it was confused.

Immediately, after taking possession of my truck I could feel the difference in the shifting patterns. Gone is the low speed down-shift thump, the shit flair, the crazy down-shifting while in cruise control, the P to D delay and refusal to down-shift out of a low speed turn. For me, the shift points are perfect, the truck is much more responsive, much quicker, the up-shifts and down-shifts are smooth and seamless, its like a completely different truck.

Perhaps the best way to describe the update is the power mode (ECT) is on at 50%.

    Such much better!

My truck goes in on Tuesday for the update, fluid check, hood fix, rear window seals and a couple other little things. Hopefully when I get it back, all is well. I have the P-D delay and the transmission sometimes flares when cold going into I think 4th.

I dedicated an entire tank of gas solely using ECT. Got 21 mpg. Don't know if it made any difference how the transmission learned to shift. I will say that I can't decide to get the 0077-16 because my SR5 4x4 actually performs pretty good after 20,000 on the odometer.

Well, credit where credit is due.

Toyota fixed the transmission in my opinion. I've had the fix for about 5 days now and I've put ~500 miles on my truck. It feels like a different truck. This is how it should have come from the factory. It shifts like you would expect. It holds gears when it should, and it shifts when it should. It's smoother. It doesn't lurch or clunk into gear. I dont feel like I'm going to cause an accident on the highway because it upshifts instead of downshifts.

I can't help but think that the low transmission fluid issue would have gone completely unnoticed if the transmission shifted like this from the factory.

Keep us posted. I'll be taking another trip out to Linville gorge in a few weeks. First time with the 2016, last time was my 2011, and I plan on getting this done before I go.

Got this done last friday. Such an improvement.

In my opinion it runs with the torque converter unlocked more often in the lower gears at lower speeds. I also think it downshifts more readily in the lower gears so there's no feeling of lugging at 1200rpm and then the awkward downshift and jump in acceleration. It also seems to pull better in 6th gear on the highway.
