First post here. Called the local dealerships here for the past two days and either gave my name/number for a call back, or I was transferred around and eventually hung up on. I got pissed this morning, printed the TSB out, and drove my happy ass to the dealer that I bought the truck from. I was pleasantly surprised that the service manager was more than willing to help out in any way even though he had no idea what I was talking about. I also mentioned the trans fluid level and asked him to let me know if they could check it today. I waited around for about 45 minutes and then he shows up with all of my paperwork....TSB flash done and the tech apparently just added 1/2 qt of ATF (definitely wasn't there long enough for them to actually run the appropriate trans fluid check).
I may have another dealership revisit the tranny fluid situation at my 5k service, but I feel a lot better about everything than I did this morning! Overall, the truck does feel better. Seems to hold out gears a little longer especially when going up hills and the throttle response seems a little better as well. I don't really feel like I am getting stuck in gears at 1k rpms anymore

I actually took my truck on a 4 hour interstate drive this past weekend and I thought I was going to lose my mind over the cruise control situation! Bogging down in 6th gear and then all of the sudden shifting down into 4th and hitting like 5k rpms over and over again. Didn't get a chance to test the CC today so I can't really comment on how it feels post TSB

Dealer called and confirmed that they just finished the 10,000 mile service and completed the TSB - no hassles or issues.

I'm looking forward to any improvement in the transmission mapping - placebo effect be damned!

Just brought mine into the dealer right now. Service guy was aware of all the issues we all have and he said he would do the software update, check the fluid levels and check anything else and a truck wash. I do a post visit review when its done

Too short of a drive back home to tell, however, they did their usual jack up the tire pressure to 35 psi so the thing floats along the road... Sheesh, I'll drop them back to a sane level in the morning when they are nice and cold and also give the TSB a fair assessment.

I have about 90 miles on my update . This truck is so much more fun to drive . The transmission still does weird stuff but I'm not to worried about it. This update fixed lots of issues I was having that I did not think were related . My truck handles better . It stops now without trying to push through the brakes . It acts like it has a stall converter and actually takes off pretty good from a red light . I'm going to guess and say my torq converter was locked up all the time . It doesn't slam into gear anymore . Thanks again Tacoma World my truck is really good and I'm happy with it. Time to mod it now.

Ditto x 3. I love my truck again. Thank you Toyota. I spun my tires yesterday. First time in 5500 miles. Bout freakin time. Feels like my 4.0 did at low end. I cannot help but wonder if the TSB also did a timing update. Sure feels like it. And it seems to be better every passing day. Or should I say it seems more normal every passing day.

Well, they did the update and I got the sticker. I did notice some difference on the drive home but the real test will be to work and back tomorrow.

My best comparison is this. Have you ever had a decent running vehicle that you tuned up. When you pulled the plugs the ground electrode was 1/2 gone on 2 plugs. Then you installed new plugs and, wow, where did that extra power come from. That is the feeling my post TSB has delivered. It literally went from being a borderline slug to something with good passing power both low and high speeds. I was really concerned that I would drive mine forever feeling underpowered. I no longer have that concern.

Hi, as I posted a few days ago, I'm driving across the country and back. I got my 10k service at home in California, pre-TSB, and my dealer insisted ATF level was fine ("we check all fluids"), got my 15k in Utah ("there's no transmission update TSB") but I'd really like to get the TSB done at 20k on my return. I think I'll be somewhere between I90 and I70, in the Detroit/Chicago/Indy area when I hit 20k. Has anyone had it done at a dealer in this area, where the Service Dept seemed on the ball? I'm willing to push my hometown dealer but on the road, I really don't have time to wait for them to educate themselves. And based on what people are saying, I'd really like to get this done before crossing the rest of the country. Thanks in advance!

I'd call a few dealers on your route, explain you're driving cross country for whatever reason and be super nice to them. Tell them you're having a hell of a time with the cruise control staying in 4th gear and your fuel economy sucks. It would be great to get the TSB done so that you're not hating the drive. I bet you one will do it for you. Look at Yelp Reviews and if they have ~3 stars, good luck. haha.

I know, right? I just wish they would have applied it between the frame and the hood skin to stop my delaminated hood from vibrating. haha. :) Maybe I can get them to give me a few more to try to patch up Toyota's mistake.
