Great advice, appreciate the tips! So I just sprayed more WD-40 into the holes on the seals and about to take a 20+ mile hwy drive. Will report back & let you know if it helped any. If not, I'll grab some of those furniture pads and put them in the door to tighten the seal.

For some reason, I still feel like its in the B pillar area because its making a distinct sound from that specific area. However, its kind of hard to pinpoint when the only time I can replicate the sound is when I'm driving over bumps, etc. I'm having to focus on the road ahead of me versus poking around to find it lol. Will keep you posted!

Yeah I would have bet a million dollars mine was coming from the B pillar as well, but it wasn't. I'm not saying yours isn't, you could have a different rattle than mine. I found I could replicate mine if I held the door handle and pulled in and out on the door and like I said, mine would rattle when I hit bumps but also it always happened when I made a left turn, which confirmed to me it was something to do with the door when the pressure changed. Good luck I hope you figure it out. Rattles are my biggest pet peeve on a new vehicle and I get so angry sometimes if I can't find them, my wife almost refuses to ride with me haha.

Sorry for the delay, so I've finally pinpointed the sound. You were right! It wasn't in the seatbelt area and it was actually the door seal rattling at the bottom left corner of the window area.

Unfortunately, the WD-40 didn't do anything so I'm moving more towards making that area of the door tighter. I knew the seal or at least that area of the doorseal was making the noise because I put 4 credit cards inside the door (stacked), to see if it would quiet it. Low and behold it did.

So now I'm going to test out those felt pads or maybe felt in that area to make it tighter. Any ideas?

My access cab drivers pillar rattles as well. Underneath the movable piece where the seatbelt pivot up and down is. I will pull it apart to check but if I am going to pull it apart I will probably dynomat the door while it is apart. It sucks that it's right in my ear though.

Yeah i think the felt pads will solve it. You need something thick, to duplicate the credit cards. Simple felt tape probably won't do it. It's the thickness that will work, not just the fact that it's soft. Get the thick pads at lowes or Home Depot and put one where I'm showing in the pic, and it need be, put one near the bottom side of the door, where that lower rubber stopper contacts. That will make it very tight.

You're right - so I took your advice on a drive this morning. I put a thick foam pad backed with 3M adhesive (I had these leftover from a Bak tonneau cover install) and placed it in the same area you placed your felt pads.

Worked like a charm! (For now at least). I'll put some more miles on it and keep you updated. I did notice a slight amount of wind noise now as I'm assuming it's causing a small gap in the door, due to the foam pad being in there. However, I'll take that any day over that incessant tapping I was hearing.

The dealership fixed the rattle last week at my 10K service. They added 4 pieces of insulation in the upper seat belt attachment area on the driver side...problem fixed, rattle gone. It took 3 attempt to get it fixed finally. 16 Access Cab TRDOR

Does anyone know how to take the component above the seatbelt off? I can tap on the section and it replicates the noise. Trying not to break any clips.

Reviving an old thread after using the search function. At least I didn’t start a new one asking the same question :)

The felt sticky trick worked like a charm, but I’m certain that it isn’t the best solution. I think lubricating the weather stripping and making sure my door jambs are clean is probably a better solution. The other solution is driving with the doors off - lol. Don’t believe me, crack your door open the next time you pillar sounds like it’s rattling.
My truck didn’t rattle or squeak when I left the dealership, so I believe that most of the annoying rattles and squeaks are operator/owner induced.
I’ve determined that my annoying noises are broken up into the following five categories:
    1. Dry or dirty seals - windows, doors, or any other closing surfaces.
    2. Intermittent contact between two adjoining materials (similar or dissimilar) - leather on leather, leather on plastic, plastic on glass, etc.
    3. Improper storage - loose items in glove box, center console, truck bed, etc.
    4. Improper removal/replacement/repair of factory components - broken clips, loose wire bundles, unclipped zip ties, etc.
    5. WTF is that and where is it coming from Rattles. This one drove me crazy for a few weeks. Let’s be honest, we’ve all tried to chase a noise that we thought was coming from a certain location and found it to in fact originate from somewhere else. I recently discovered this after sitting in the passenger seat as my son drove. The noise that had been driving me crazy (from the drivers seat) sounded like it was coming from the passenger dash area. However, from the passenger seat I heard it coming from the center console cubby by the ECT button. Neither location was accurate. It was my freaking garage door opener on the passenger visor - the innards were rattling when I’d hit large bumps.

This thread is old, but was valuable for me. My truck had the same 'in my left ear rattle.' I too thought the B panel trim on the inside, or the seatbelt anchor cover was the problem and was ready to return to the dealer. I followed one suggestion to open the door while driving to see if it disappeared. It did, so B panel and seatbelt trim was not the likely problem.

I didn't want to fill my door seals with WD-40 as suggested earlier, as the petroleum distillates might degrade the rubber. Instead, I applied Armor All to the point in the photo (top rear point where the door hits the B pillar). I sprayed a lot, and didn't wipe it off. It worked great. Now I can hear the same rattle from the passenger door. Same remedy worked.

This rattle (by my left ear) just started on my 2018 access cab with 20K miles. Or maybe I just noticed it after I finally killed the passenger side dash rattle.
I'll try the armor all, but suspect it might be coming from that little round rubber bumper on the door (opposite where the felt pad goes). The bumper is loose in the door. Suspect the felt pad holds it in place tightly.

I know I’m reviving this a year later, but my access cab is rattling near my ear. Checking and hoping that lubing the rubber helped you?? I also wonder if it’s in the latch mechanism. Weather stripping would be simpler.
