Stereo?

I'm looking for an affordable touchscreen stereo for my Tacoma. Do y'all have any suggestions or selling one? Please help!

Maximum would be $300 and yeah that looks awesome. Do you have that stereo?

 

not yet, but i was considering getting it. i like the fact that it's actually got android cooked into it. i can tether with my phone plan, so data wouldn't be a huge issue for me. updates (or lack there-of) will eventually make this obsolete...but i have a few old phones kicking around that run old versions of android and it doesn't bug me. ...i guess you'd run into the same situation with any touch screen receiver - eventually it will become more "outdated" than a simple button and knob setup. for $250ish, i don't think that's a huge concern.

 

This is the one I installed in my 1st gen. Doesn't come with a remote ($10) but Amazon carries that also. Chose this one because I don't like turn dial knobs for a cleaner look. All I listen to is my USB flash drive I hooked up and it works for me.

1st gen radios are on a bad angle for touch screens. Id go with the jvc ones if going that cheap though.

 

main reason I opted for the remote.

 

carofchoice and devinzz1, can you tell us more about what makes the angle bad? up/down/left/right? hard to target things well on the screen? I'm guessing the viewing angle is ok because of the remote option?

mounted low in the dash in front of shifter and isnt angled up at all. just isnt ideal but youl probably get used to it.

 

For me it was just having to reach for it all the time and like Devinzz1 said, the shifter gets in the way a bit. You do get used to it but the remote makes things a bit easier. If I am using the touch screen, its usually when I'm stopped, after that its remote use only. Even if it wasn't a touch screen I would still be using the remote so I don't have to adjust my seating position to change volume or to change songs.
