I agree, I have had the 885 for about a month now, and I wish I could swap out to 887s.

 

why? 885s too low for you?

 

I would just like to level the truck out, right now it sits with the same rake as stock.

 

after hearing about the body mount issues with over torquing, i wonder if the shop you used just hit the LCA bolt with a rattle gun. find somone with a torque wrench and have them do it right, it might be the cause of the issue.

 

What should it be torqued to? I took it back and got the cam taps flipped up so they are no longer hanging down, and made him put a torque wrench on it. Which was wasn't going to do till I mentioned it. I told him to torque it to 130lbs, and watched him do it. This did not fix the problem however.

Looks like that was a little much, this shows that it should have been to 100lbs?

 

Possibly, but if you watched while the guy hit it with a torque wrench then im not sure.

 

Ok, thanks for the idea though! I am just confused how it can go away and then come back. I just don't see anything that could have changed with it slipping...

 

yeah. one theory ive had, but haven't disassembled a shock to confirm, is that the OME rebound damping lets the shock rebound too fast, thus "slamming" out to full extension. in theory it could also be inconsistent based off of driving style and how rough the terrain you go over is. but im not sure, im not a shock expert. nor have a taken apart an OME shock to confirm the valving in them.

 

Yep that is exactly what is happening. I just don't know how it could go away and come back and how some trucks experience it and others do not. This is what has me so puzzled.

 

I got rid of my too-short OME shocks in 2015, and moved to Bilstein at all four corners. I can drive my truck over anything, and haul ass off road if I want! So much better!

I am 2wd so I am just going to live with it. I was so excited because most of the reviews said the OME were better ride than the billies. Then this happened...I will be going with KINGs when I trade my truck for a 4x4.

 

Yep. I fell victim to same shit. Wasted money, time, blood sweat, tears. But I got good at installing shocks. lol

 

damn you guys are making me hesitant. My brand new 885/5100s are sitting in my garage waiting to be installed...

I'll probably go with Bilstein for my next set of shocks.

 

Install them already. It's not the clunk thunk bs of the nitro shocks. Bilsteins are awesome

Just pulled the trigger on the following from Headstrong Off road

OME Full Suspension Lift:
Shocks: 90021 Soft ride
Coils: 887x
Rear: 60091 Sport rear shocks and Dakar Leaf springs
UCAs: Light racing

From what I have read and researched over the years this should give me a leveled 3 in lift on my 2013 TRD Sport DCLB.

Now just waiting to hear about those Stealth SCS 6 wheels.

 

I received my dakar springs yesterday, should I be concerned that both are +? I've read that + indicates springs that are slightly over spec and - indicates the spring is slightly under specs so the best set up is + on the driver side and - on the passenger side to compensate for the tacoma lean. Worth the hassle to exchange if the vendor is up for it? I'm also installing Icon 2.5" coils next week so I can use their adjustment to help counter the lean.

 

The difference is negligible enough that I wouldn't worry about it. The advice to do that is for folks that get one - and one +, so they don't put them on the wrong sides and further exacerbate the taco lean.

 

I just installed my Dakars last week and they both had + on them. I adjusted my drivers side coilover to be a little higher then the passenger side.
