Well you took a truck which doesn't have a very torquey powertrain, increased the rotational mass, changed the effective gear ratio by going with a larger tire and are having issues. You mention transmission issues galore - what are the exact symptoms? What repairs has the dealer performed? Do you have pictures of the paperwork where they write the description of the issue with their findings?

I had the TSB done last week. Majority of my driving is done on I-10 and south of I-10 which is all very flat terrain. I use my cruise control quite frequently but today is the first day since TSB that I headed a little north of the coast to test on hills. Quite disappointed. My truck still held 4th and 5th gear for quite sometime after cresting a hill. I did have the R-D delay quite bad. I could sometimes count to a full 5 seconds before kicking into D. That issue seems to be resolved, at least for now.

I show that service was performed, but nothing that specifically says the tsb. I had it in for the 5k service. The ticket says they updated the transmission software.

Took mine to AutoNation Irvine Toyota with TSB in hand the first Monday after it was released. Slight hesitation from service writer but had it done in about an hour with no issues.

Great job! My problem has been delayed park to drive engagement. When I had service a few months ago, service rep said no bulletins were out yet in regards.

So I had the TSB done about 700 miles ago. All problems fixed that the TSB promised and very happy with that, but two new problems came up. My MPG when down from 17 to 15 (calculated), and the tranny seems to hold on to 4th really long after I've crest a hill and let off the gas. Everything stock, no lift or bigger tires. Anyone else have these issues?

Mine's got a few hundred miles since the TSB. It seems to have settled down and is performing well on hills with cruise, and much improved driveability in "D" at lower speeds. Gas mileage seems about the same for now.

Hard to believe... Was your tranny low and did they top it off..? Or did they just say just say they checked it?....

    UPDATE -8-10 16 .

I retraced my original trip to the flat land . I bought gas at the same station which was right before the flat land ,and drove the same route . there was no wind to speak of and same weather , clear and dry.
Before the TSB I got a peak of 21.7 mpg on this route . I got a peak average of 20.3 this time . This was driving the same 63 mph on a flat road with no wind with no traffic at 1400 rpm.
I do not see me ever getting the 23 to 26 mpg some of you have gotten .
Right after the TSB I got 20.2 on a 55 mile trip with a lot of up and down hills (see above) . On the flat it is 20.3 , ( less than 100 miles after the TSB . I guess my first trip was truly 50/50 up and down , making it average out to a flat trip.

The trans does not seem to hunt in cruise ,as much as before the TSB .At the top of hills it is back to having a delay to upshift while in cruise. I actually had to step on the gas and let off to jog it to upshift .
    this happened several times .
Oh well it is much better than the 12.5 with my old 98 Dodge ! I can honestly say that once the Tacoma gets to 4000 rpm , it runs like a raped ape as compared to the Dodges 5.9 L auto (3spd. + OD) All the dodge did is make a LOT more noise .

PS. It has been 8 days since my update and I still do not see the service record on the Toyota owners website . Maybe all they did is reset it and did not flash it to the new update in the TSB .

I wonder if there is any paperwork they can give you that proves the update was done? All I got was a note on my invoice ticket saying the TSB was updated.

all mods requested by the wife (seriously)
Just came back from Auto Nation Irvine.

First rep said they wouldn't do it, I asked for a supervisor and after they did all the cars in front of me and even some that pulled up behind me (4 lane bay for a total of 9 cars they took that arrived after me)

Got the work order put in and the car was there for 4 hours. Picked up the car and the receipt just states "Performed ECU Update" no OPCODE or details.

TLDR: No sticker, car drives same way as before I dropped it off.

I went in with a hard copy of the TSB and showed it to the service writer . I thought he new what it was as he seemed to . It was not until after the work was all done that he said hey, the TSB was brand new and he had never seen it before. (Since I complained that my truck leaned and the box did not line up correctly , he thought my truck was an older truck and not a new 2016. I should have known as I thought it strange he asked if it had been hit ( I said no) he then asked if I owned it since new . ( These questions were asked when I got there )
He did not yet notice it was a 2016 with 1800 miles on it Anyway once it was done I asked for paperwork to state what they did . I did not specifically mention the
    T-SB-0077-16 .
    Here is wahat it said.
    upload_2016-8-10_14-2-27.jpg
I hope this means they did the Trans Update . It seems to say it was an engine update ?

They did do it. Your PCM was updated which controls everything your truck does.

I am not sure either . I hope when and if they update the Toyota owners page it will be more clear. If not , I was told to go in every 6 months from purchase date for the free 2 year service regardless of miles . this will be the end of Sept. I will ask again then . I fully trust the dealer , but there may have been a misunderstanding .

It is not clear but it may have been ? Resetting it to factory to override the learning process could be thought of as a reprogram also. Again I have mixed feelings. The loss of MPG is not what I had hoped for.

Got mine done at Miller in Anaheim. They specified the TSB on my invoice. I do feel that I am getting 1 mpg less than before. On my commute to work I would normally get about 22 but now I get about 21mpg.
