THAT buzzer!? I feel this is a double-win situation. I do not care for all the dings and dongs and chimes and beeps that modern vehicles have these days. I'm not going to get into a long-winded rant about "how things used to be", but I have been favoring the idea of sticking with older vehicles and keeping them for longer periods of time.

I just read through the link that you provided and it mentions breaking the buzzer off. I wonder if there is a way to remove it without destroying it? You know, in the oddball event that I need to reinstall it.

I made one myself out of 1/8" stainless stock at work. I only use it when running around town getting in and out every few minutes. The rest of the time I just wear the belt.

Maybe my 2004 didn't come with a seat belt chime? :notsure:

All I know is that I do have a chime if I leave my keys in the ignition, but for my seatbelt there's never been one...just a blinking light on the dash. Not sure if the PO disabled it somehow or if it never came with one.

Wonder if a lawsuit might ensue if a federally mandated warning device was disabled and then sold to an unsuspecting party, who gets aggrieved?

mine would not even though I mentioned that the owners manual said it was a customizable feature. They called Toyota and asked permission. They were real dicks about it. Last time my truck saw their shop. I too disconnected the wire under the drivers seat but it does not work on the passenger side.

I do not think a warning light and a horn are both mandated but I would have to do some research to confirm

I DO NOT need a nasty beep to remind me to put it on while I am on public roads

I went for lunch and knocked this out in a matter of a few minutes. I pried the buzzer off the back of the gauge cluster in hopes of it being reattached in the future if ever needed. The peace and quiet is so lovely.

the only buzzer that I do like a lot is when I open the door to get out having forgotten to turn off the headlights. THAT buzzer has saved my bacon numerous times!!

I use clothes pins and shove them in the seatbelt hookup upside down. Shuts off the chime when im driving on the half mile of dirt road leading up to my place

Bought this seatbelt extender for my 2016 Tacoma (driver and passenger). Not sure if this will fit 2nd gens. I don't recommend driving unbuckled, but if you do a lot of in-n-out driving in slow speed limit areas, this product works great and it's a cheap & instant chime fix. It's seems to be built well and the thickness of the metal buckle is OEM in appearance.

Here's the Amazon link I used: Rhino 3 inch Seat Belt Extenders - For Cars Trucks & Vans with a 7/8" buckle. Carries Rhino Fitment Guarantee https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SDMJLQ6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_BlLTxbR2JGADQ
