'15 already got the larger brakes. I think it was around '09 that they went to the larger calipers. The aftermarket kit is your only option for bigger. However, I am going with centrix drilled and slotted to handle the larger tires and prevent warping

These people don't know what you are asking. You are asking if the BBK for the FJ fits on the taco's. yes, it does, but make sure the wheels clear.

@Torspd is running a BBK, one of these i believe http://sosperformance.com/t/tacoma-2005-2015

There was recently a thread on this where the OP used OEM Toyota parts. He used larger diameter rotors and the calipers from the 4 Runner (LTD, IIRC) and some other OEM parts. Do some searching, the thread has a complete list of part numbers.

That is for 1st gen taco's, people run the 1st gen tundra calipers/rotors. The smaller set fits 16" wheels, the bigger set uses min. 17" wheels.

Yeah, sorry I got confused on the WG and WH models as posted in the link. They are from select older 4Runner and this was a conversion I saw a lot of guys doing on GEN 1 Tacos.

I remember it specifically being a gen 2 thread. I am getting old though...

There was a 4th gen 4Runner trim (sport or limited) with larger brakes that could fit 2nd gen Tacos, but needs 17" wheels.

The StopTech BBK kit is better though, with a stiffer caliper by design.

I read those before, but I am too hard headed to believe it all. I can't help but feel Stoptech is pushing their brand while the automotive thinker seems to only speculate and assumes there is immeasurable data. I raced for about four years on a Road circuit and there was definite difference between the two (my opinion only and potentially all in my head). Will I be able to discern this between what my Taco does on the street? Perhaps not, but the racers today don't use slotted and drilled rotors because they use ceramic which cost upwards of 5k per rotor. I have had good results. Thanks.

Correct. Basically the Rotora equivalent to the StopTech ST60's in your link. Man do they stop the truck! You need at least an 18" wheel. The coolest part about the StopTech calipers, is that they are rebuild able and upgradable. Many manufactures make pads for them, unlike my Rotoras.

    • Centric is StopTech, in case there's any doubt.
    • Carroll Smith wrote that article, not StopTech.
