Always been a full-size domestic truck owner but decided to dive in (even after researching on TW) and order my 2016 DCSB TRDOR 6MT in March with a 4-6 month wait. Wow that was tough!!! Especially after joining TW.

Then just before the 4th of July I got an e-mail

Started off mounting a bicycle fork holder on the front bed rail

Actually, first thing I did was grease my u-joints. Specifically asked the dealer to check this...

Each took 6-10 pumps :frusty: Very Frustrating... Anyways back on track

Next mod is my dual battery setup I had installed in my other truck. Powered the camper for a 3 week roadtrip west from Dallas to the grand canyon, SLC, and snowboarding at Angelfire NM.

Thought the isolator would work, but it is only 95A and would also require me cutting into my factory wiring harness. Decided to go with Blue Sea and after contemplating how "cool" it would be to mount the in-cab switch for the 7622 ML-ACR, I went with the add-a-battery kit

If I need to combine the batteries (dead start battery or extra juice for winching) I will most likely be out of the truck and I'm ok with popping the hood and turning the switch.

Mounted both close to the starting battery where I could gain access to the backside (for bolt/nut mounting) by removing the drivers side wheel liner.

Going with a light green secondary color theme, so I HAD to spend some extra $$ on these cables. Decided to go 1/0, overkill?? Sure... don't care. From Ebay but my color and high strand count.

Offgrid Engineering aluminum dual battery tray (with slight modification due to the large deep cycle I had. Purchased longer stainless steel rods and notched the hold down bracket.

Went back and forth with the wiring and I'll post up my final schematic for those interested.

Started cutting wires and crimping terminals
    20160801_193753_1416d0c9c854193de595784477687e251cb257db.jpg

My understanding from other threads is the start isolation is more applicable to boats (what this kit is designed for) and therefore I bypassed the SI function and connected cables and ground
    20160802_185723_ba9805619f7eabbe3b78b7f28624f7311b3bb154.jpg

Although the Add-a-Battery kit is designed for 120A alt (mine is 130A), the relay can take intermittent loading of 210A (5 minutes)

Mounted the fuse block panel after paint and installed the cb's (square holes needed opened up to fit the circuit breakers)
    20160727_211557_52557f9ad936c3909b557fcef0a046980e4c6e4f.jpg

Routed the cables and re-installed the start battery
    20160802_201502_15afb8e42eb1f8d80c88c039c7bbc7000730ccbe.jpg

1/0 cables came with a 300A ANL fuse w/ holder I mounted on the firewall next to the Aux battery
    20160802_201446_62b330a63feaee6f67bd551ad4481caaaad63b3c.jpg

Fired up the truck and confirmed success!

Was looking at buying a TRD shift knob, but saw a thread on custom shift knobs which got me thinking what I could do that was different.

I grabbed a used baseball and with a 5/8" wood bit, drilled into the ball and pressed in a M12 x 1.25 lug nut (long).
    20160815_201330_1_12b34a96728acf7cd5842fd5558aa5265319db3b.jpg

Removed the console panel to access the shift boot. Cut the zip tie holding the chrome/plastic piece that locks to the stock shift knob. Slid the boot down and re-zip tied lower on the shaft and reinstalled the console.
    20160815_201058_bd3133c5526d8f4ce7aa791a8f063cc81037b759.jpg

Ordered some custom baseballs, and along with the lug nuts and jam nuts, am still under $50. Here is the prototype, will probably re-orient the hole on the next ones.

Where did you relocate the lines under your second battery? I believe it's a brake booster that's there...

Looks like you have a sport. Offgrid4x4's website lists fitment for the 3rd gen with ATRAC (TRD Offroad). That spot was empty for me.

    This is from offgrid4x4's website

Was picked to test a prototype G-TEK Fab Intake kit.

Initial impression: Increase in induction noise, but less than I would think from an aftermarket intake (past experience in other vehicles, not tacoma though). Seemingly improved throttle response and low torque.
-This may be more noticeable to me as I have 6MT. Others may notice as well but there is a slight delay in power delivery (computer control) that AT people may not notice since upshifts are under constant acceleration. This is improved and even if it just sounds like she's working harder, it is more enjoyable.

No MPG report until i can do my daily commute (Fuelly in my sig is from day 1 and pretty constant at 19 so we can all see). But as for this tank, I have been getting on the throttle and enjoying the music it makes up high.

Could you put a link for the front fork holder mod you did? Just curious on pricing and if you like it. I am torn between doing this or just grabbing a bike pad.

I added an Amazon link to the part I purchased. Didn't take pictures when installing, but very easy to install since the front rail is removable. I like it and would recommend it, but you can do just fine without. I haven't locked it, but nice to know I can throw a padlock on it. Have had to run to a store before and hope no one walks off with it.

I'm leaning towards building one. If I was to go with a vendor I would probably go Pelfreybilt high clearance then add a swingout (not a standard option).

I built these while at WYOTECH for a previous truck

After going back and forth with how to deal with the 2.5 gal tank, I bought a 1 gallon tank which made choosing a mounting location easier
