Bought a Napa Gold oil filter today for the 2016 3.5L and it says made in China on it.

Napa Gold used to be Wixs filters. Maybe Wix is now outsourcing to China?

    It's going back to Napa.

lol silly boy... should have read the label before buying it silly...

even when branded made in usa many items are still legally produced outside the country and still legally brandish the label made in usa.

imho do yourself a favor and just buy the oem filter from toyota.

if buying something not american was a concern of yours, why not own something like f150 silverado or ram?? i hear jeep makes a cute 4x4

There's a big difference between buying an oil filter made in china and a truck made in mexico.

If the Chinese oil filter was made well, that's another story, this Napa filter looked really cheaply made with hard cheap plastic ends and paper media.

So the point was if anyone has always used Napa Gold made by Wix, like I did, you might want to check that.

Corporate greed , the top 1% need their bonuses and raises so they have to outsource it to make more profit. And of course they'll never pass any of that on to their employees.

Denso had already moved its aftermarket oil filter mfg from Thailand to China. Wonder when the Toyota OE mfg will follow.

For my Subaru, Thai filter on the left, Chinese filter on the right:

It certainly isn't. And it won't be. Ever.
Fiestas, absolutely. Focus, why not? Escape, C-Max, Transit, you bet.

If their CEO moved F150 production to Mexico, he would soon be removed from his position by an irate board and stockholders. As much as the bowtie morons like to think that it's baseball, apple pie and Chevrolet, the truth is the two most readily recognized marques of American transportation greatness are Ford and Harley Davidson. Sure every brand has a following, and around the world there are pockets of weirdness (Buick has long been the status symbol auto purchase in China, not BMW, Mercedes or even Rolls Royce...Buick)

It's one thing to build 50,000-60,000 Tacomas in Mexico, most of which will be sold in the gulf states. It's entirely another to build 750,000 units, especially a company's flagship model there. Then ship them all over North America. Ford is very aware of the importance of every single aspect of the F-150's position in the US market. Ship it off to Mexico? Hardly.

The Fiat 1500, I mean RAM, is probably the lowest US content vehicle sold in America. Engines made in Mexico, bodies made in Canada. This allows them to claim high percentage of American content (North America- US and Canada, Central America-Mexico...its all America, just not The United States of America)

What's the different between Thailand and China? Not much. Toyota is still going to have the same quality standards and request the same material and it must be made to their specifications. So it really doesn't matter. And since they aren't made in the USA I could care less if Toyota switches manufactures to China

Well damn. Guess the Op should get rid of his television, cell phone, computer, and probably half the shit he owns if he doesn't want anything made in China.

Profits and strategic growth drive manufacturing locations for auto manufacturers worldwide. If F150 sales droop for an extended period, it too will be under a cost per unit reassessment scrutiny by senior corporate leadership. $60 hourly UAW total compensation employee cost vs $8 hourly total compensation cost in Mexico.

It is no longer 1965 and US auto manfacturers now must compete globally.
