I've been watching this thread for about a month now trying to decide which tires would be right for me. I've only had my truck for a few months and the tires on it are mastercraft courser at2 and honestly are kind of crappy. So for my whole wheel upgrade I chose these. Can't beat the price and I think they will be great. 285/75r16 around level 8 trackers.

 

Look at the size of those guys.
Are you planning a lift any time soon?

My buddy just bought a set of LT265/75-16s along with a set of 8" wheels (with zero offset). I was in his truck yesterday for about 30-35 miles or so of freeway, canyon/twisty roads and surface streets. The tires are amazing. Super quiet, way more quiet than my old KO's, and they seem to offer a really compliant and plus ride, particularly for an LT/E-Rated tire. Totally impressed.

He has a 2" lift, and did get some rubbing at full lock while in reverse. I suspect this is likely due to the 0-offset wheels, and I have a -15mm offset with the same lift and same size tires and have no rub.

My AT3Ws should be here on Tuesday or Wednesday, but I took some pics of his truck for all to enjoy.

 

Looks like these are made in Japan and Thailand witch isn't a deal breaker. Seriously thinking about purchasing these. Anyone getting mixed sets?

 

Nope. My confidence in these hoops grows every day. Heavy rains today and lots of 50mph + hydro planing situations, but the taco just plowed through, tracking true, each time. Sumikomo makes these, if that matters.

I ordered a set of these over the weekend along with some new wheels, I'm hoping (more like expecting) these to be a lot better in the rain and on the highway than my Rugged Terrains which overall have been a disappointment.

 

Just had mine installed today. Initial impressions: Holy Cow! These things are silent! Like, no noise whatsoever!

I went with E-Rated tires, always have, they feel about as stiff as every other E-Rated tire I've run. I haven't chalk-tested them yet, but I suspect I'm probably a few PSI too high.

Tires and new wheels showed up today so I put them on the truck tonight. First impressions: they look huge! and wow they look agressive compared to my Rugged Terrains! I've only driven on them to the gas station to put some gas in the truck and air them up, but they feel noticeably plusher than my old tires and they're much more quiet that it's amazing. Either these tires are super quiet or my worn Rugged Terrains just sucked bad--probably the latter.
What tire pressures are you guys running? I aired them up to 40psi as a starting point on 265/70/17 and a 17x8 rim.

 

I am ready to get these tires, my old tires aren't ready to give up though.

 

Yeah, they are sooooo quiet. I was amazed.

I was planning on chalk testing mine later today, but I put my E-rated at 35 psi and I suspect thats a few pounds too high. If you have the P-rated, you'll probably need a few psi more. I think a guy on here chalk tested his P-rated and ended up at 38-40.

I have the P-rated version. I drove on them to work this morning and indeed they're very quiet tires. I would have thought I had been driving on mud tires compared to these.

 

Just went to the tire shop in town. Said $125 a piece mounted and balanced! These are going on the wife's 4runner Trail next week when it lands. Probably gonna be getting a set for the tacoma when it allegedly lands in late November.

I had papers from discount tire website to use in my dealings. He quoted $125. I said, mounted and balanced? He says, yep that are on sale right now. I kept my discount tire paper down and I said getter done!!!

 

I was $680 Out the Door, with road hazard and all. Compared to my last set of BFG's at the same tire shop at $970

 

That's not bad either....but $500 for 4 mounted and balanced? That is a great deal.

 

Hehe. I think I was $925 mounted and balanced, but I'm on 33s so more $$.
