    I had the mirror with the temp. I had installed it on my 2014, but my 15 has homelink so I lost the temp gauge.

    I had homelink on my 2012 that was totaled, My 2013 only had temp in the mirror. I miss my homelink.

    I thought there was a mirror that had homelink with the temp indicator? Could you not just install and run the wires to a temp sensor?

    I installed something similar in my 1st Gen, which my son now has in his 1st Gen, because my 2nd Gen mirror includes Temp and Compass functions.

    +1. Mirrors are available with almost every combination of Temp/Compass/Homelink, but they're not cheap. I am not affiliated with the seller, but details are available here.

    Yeah they are out there but are super expensive. I just didn't wanna drop that coin.

    You could always sell your old one to recoup some of the cost. I found one from an auto wrecker locally from a Nissan Pathfinder. It was auto dimming with compass and temp and was the same one used in the Tacoma's. I only paid $25 bucks for it and I'm sure if I really wanted too I could have found one with homelink. Most mirrors even in wrecked cars look new.

    I installed one of those a few months ago. It was quite inexpensive. Think I got it from deal extreme (www.dx.com) for about $5. got the one with a slightly longer cable. 9' or something like that. Works ok at giving you an approximate temp. Problem is that the temp is always changing. I think because it registers in 0.? degrees and there is no "buffer". You learn to not stare at it after a couple of weeks. Ok for an inexpensive estimate of outside temp. Also took a long time to get as it comes from China. Amazon or others have comparable as you've found. I mounted the sensor behind the front grill in the middle (not open to wind/rain etc).

    I had a $10 cheapo indoor/outdoor thermometer I got from Walmart. Worked just fine and also had the humidity.

    I was just thinking about this exact thing this morning...my old car had an outside temp thermometer on it that I would keep an eye religiously when the temps would start dropping around here (Central NH)...we get lots of icing on the road surfaces when temps hover around the freezing mark.
    My Taco (new to me) is the one without the temp/compass on the rearview mirror so I need to come up with a thermometer before late fall/early winter rears it's ugly head. I'll be watching this thread.

    Kinda lower part of grill, behind grill, middle. If you look you should be able to tell. I think there is a thread. Sorry i don't have the link or pics. Someone else probably does.

    Thanks... I poked around looking for a thread but didn't see anything that talked about where it was installed...plenty of threads of where the placement didn't work. I'll look some more when I get home from work tonight...
