In the south, fog can be a real problem from Fall till Spring. I don't run mine UNLESS there is actually fog or some other low visibility issue. Fog lights are to be used when there is actually fog, IMO! The reason I'm going to do this mod is because I actually needed them last week, so when I turned them on...I had to double check that they were actually on. It wasn't easily apparent. I'm not sure about the SR and SR5, but the Sport and Limited suck balls as far as output! I was actually going to purchase the Off Road versions, until this timely post came up. I'd much rather go with LED in projectors.

I bought mine through discountpartsmonster.com. $128.74 each, plus shipping...and they collected tax on me. Actually, let me say that I ordered mine through them...have not received them yet, nor have they shipped.

 

0210 I am not saying that this Lexus fog lights are better than the TRS , I am just showing other members a different option , the best thing is they OEM quality . I had the TRS on my tundra and they were ok, but the reason I didn't go that route with my Tacoma this time is because after a heavy rain one them just stop working and blowing the fog light fuse . No to mention dealership love after market parts so that way they don't have to fix anything, and send you away.

 

Not sure how well these Lexus fog lights would help in the fog. They look really bright and I can only imagine them making the fog stand out even more. I had some PIAA super white bulbs in the fogs on my Frontier and I kept my fog lights off in the fog. In the Central Valley, CA; the fog can get really dense during the winter and at night the brighter fog lights don't help at all.

This time around I wanted to do something different and wanted the fog lights to serve their purpose so I bought some yellow Baja Design fog lights. I don't have experience with yellow fog lights yet, so I'm curious to see if they live up to the hype. However, from my experience, rain or fog is seen less throughout the year and these Lexus fog lights would be utilized more during night driving; especially in poorly lit conditions/areas.

 

On my '09 Tacoma Sport, I kept the original bulbs in the fogs and never swapped them out. The ugly yellowish color they put out was excellent for foggy and snowy situations. Typically, the fog here in East TN is usually a foot or two above the road, so we will see if these will work. Agreed, the white color of LEDs certainly don't help with cutting the fog as well as yellow or yellowish, but hopefully, their powerful lumens will be enough to cut through it. They DEFINITELY will be better than these 19w suck-ass stock ones!

And I misspoke earlier about the H16 bulbs on Sports. Apparently, those come with same wide-angle ones that are on the OR's. Only the SR, SR5 and Limited's come with the terrible, low-lumen, pathetic, sucky, useless, POS that is the H16 bulb!!

 

FYI - Fog lights work in FOG where the dispersion is LOW to the ground with a low cutoff AND wide agle... so when there's FOG the road directly in front of you and to each side it lit up enough to see... they are not intended for long thro lighting the highway... it's a short thro light so you can see the road when going a bit slower in FOG.

With the low dispersion and low cutoff this should not affect oncoming traffic specially in FOG... kinda hard to blind oncoming drivers in fog right?

I have a Sport... got rid of the stockers cause I didn't like the color and went with LED. The stock ones on my truck were not very bright.

You likely have people that stuff HIDs or poor LEDs in halogen reflectors to thank for that. Both the fogs the OP posted and the TRS fogs have clean cut offs (as should any OEM fog), which are specifically designed to control beam pattern and keep it down low on the road below the horizon. Any OEM fog light (that is a fog light and not a driving light) will do this and not blind oncoming drivers. If light is escaping above the horizon the entire functionality of the fog light (as a fog light) is useless.

 

There are plenty of "HIDs in halogen reflectors" guys around, but even outside of those, SO many people run fogs 24/7 and they do blind me. Whether they're poor quality, out of alignment, or who knows what else... they're pointing up!

They have a plastic lens cover and mostly plastic body. They do have some really big heat sinks, though, that are, of course, made of metal.

Update:
I installed mine over the weekend. Install was really simple...hardest thing I had to do was trying to get the new lights fished back into the small cavity. These are ever so slightly larger than the OEM Tacoma ones. Just enough so that it made it difficult to wiggle it back into its proper spot. The OP is correct...there is only ONE screw that holds these into place, and that screw head is a phillips. Two of the three holes that look like screw holes (opposite the attachment screw), simply slide into slots. The last hole (the one below the attachment screw) just hangs out, unattached.

I have some pictures that I'll post up later showing the color difference. I have the OPT7 low-beams and these LED fogs are not that color temp. The OPT7's are a 6000K color and these seem to be more in the 4200K range. Definitely put out more light than the OEM, H16's found in the Limited!!!! However, I don't think these have the same output as the Morimoto XB's found here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/morimoto-xb-led-fog-lamps.443476/ , but close...maybe 75% of their power...maybe. Probably on par with the Sport/OR OEM halogen versions, or maybe a little more.

I'm ok with that, though, as I think these will serve my purposes perfectly. Again, defiantly put out more light than the severely under powered OEM H16's found in the SR5 and Limiteds!!! Plus, they look awesome IMO. I love the OEM look with the tiny projectors and chrome surround. Matches the Limiteds quite nicely, I think.

 

Nice find and looks good. If I didn't already have Baja Design squadron R installed in my fog light pockets this would have
been a viable alternative.

The OP had some posted already, so I didn't take any. I figured his was about right. I'm working on getting some other pics showing the color difference.

 

First off, thanks to the OP for finding this solution. As I stated above, this worked well for me and I'm happy with the results.

Just the new Lexus LED's. Notice how in this picture with just the fogs, the color temp looks whiter than the pic above. I think this is a camera problem. In person, the lights look very similar in color with only a slight color difference...but a difference none the less.
