255/85/16 on a 3rd gen

It looks like every other MT out there... They are pretty generic looking.

 

They'd be fine in mud 100% of the time. But I wouldn't want to daily drive on them.

 

Im not a fan of the Maxxis Bighorns. I dont have a 3rd gen, but I have them in the same size on my 2nd gen. Ive already torn 2 sidewalls on stock friendly trails. Then next tires that I buy, will be Cooper ST Maxx in the same size.

I daily drive them. Ive read that I can only expect 40k from them

 

If you get 40k out of tires like that I would consider that pretty good.

Its d rated.. Definitely not E

 

Sidewall is 3 ply on both

 

Im new to this. I hope to get that much. But if I damage any more sidewalls, Im buying the Coopers one by one

 

Where did get your high liftjack mount

 

4x innovations. I'd make my own if I did it again though. too expensive for what you get.

Anybody know if a '33 will actually fit in the stock spare location?

 

This! I’m needing a 33” or as close as possible spare to fit in stock location. Can anybody confirm it fits, not afraid to hammer the tabs back.

 

Mine's got 255/85r16s too! I enjoy using these particular ones in snow and ice, I dont find that they are that bad. Tall and skinny MTs cut straight through snow and get pretty good grip, its the big wide floatation sized ones that have more trouble in snow! Also, make sure you've got the tires inflated to +/- 30 PSI in this size I have found that setting gets the best combo of grip and smooth ride

 

They will fit on your stock TRD OR rims without any modification to your suspension and no need for spacers. All you will need to do is remove your mudguards. Cooper ST Maxx's are an all terrain tire. Just put them on a week ago and they look great. No issues.

Just echoing what everyone else has already said... I'm running Cooper ST Maxx's, set of 5, 255/85/16's and I have the spared tucked into the stock location. Stock rims and suspension. No rubbing yet, but haven't fully flexed it either. These tires meet and exceed my needs and expectations! They have been quiet and perform well in snowy and icy conditions, which was also one of my main concerns.These tires will never grip in snow and ice as well as a true winter-rated tire, but these are a great compromise for most conditions, in my opinion. What did you have to do to fit that spare tire?

 

The installer at my local Discount Tire wedged it up in there. Not sure if they had to bend tabs, but I have heard other folks having to do that in order to fit similar size tires in the stock location.

 

What size lift do you have on this? 3 or 6?
