Need to work on my Taco!!

So i love doing more stuff to my truck, but my funds are really really tight right now. This weekend my custom spare tire holder is getting built and installed. But wondering if anyone has any real cheap, or free mods that i can do. I was thinking

O ya the spare tire holder. I will be using quarter inch angle iron. @ pieces running across my wheel wells. I think we measured like 56" or something. With 4 angle iron legs in the middle coming up at an angle to hold a piece of steel, with three bolts coming out to hold the rim on. Aldo drill a hole in one of the nolts for a padlock to go on. Its kinda hard to explain, but it is definitly going to look bad ass. I will get pics up of the finished product.

 

Last week I cut my stock tailpipe after the rear axle so you can't see any of the exhaust unless you are underneath the truck. Stylish and free!

Is your roll bar custom? Is it actually bolted to the frame? More pics?

 

I doubt it. The pipe is pointed away from the tire, and metal conducts heat better than air. The exhaust pipe was already that close to the tire to begin with. Removing it will make no difference. Several people have been running this on these boards for thousands of miles with no issues.

Because I don't think an exhaust pipe is a particularly attractive portion of a truck.

I cut my tail pipe too. I have a silver truck, and the black exhaust soot would get all over the back corner panel and white lettering on the 4x4 mudflaps. This happened especially when it would rain. Also, I bumped the tail pipe against some terrain reversing on a trail. I have had it cut just like that guy ^^^ for 15,000 miles and my spare tire is fine

 

i cut my piping right after the axel too. running Flow Master 40s. i check it once in a while and its still good. no problems here and it looks much cleaner and less cluttered than duals which are a dime a dozen. just my .02

 

i getting the spare tire mount, not him. Im not cutting my exhaust that close, cuz i already have dual pipes

 

roll bar is not custom. It is not bolted thru the frame( tho i could) it is just bolted thru the bed. So technically it is a light bar, but whatever. I found the bar on craigslist. It came out of a 96 nissan pickup. I painted it black, and fits just about perfect.

 

and heres my duals. Its a y pipe from the cat converter, with just sraight pipes, no mufflers.

 

Its dumped after the axle, not under the cab. I have also done this and never smelt any exhaust fumes. Currently I have a Flowmaster 40 with a turndown before the axle and no problems yet, and its still pretty far away from the cab.

 

And to the op, BHLM, Debadge (or repaint) and black out Toyota emblem on your grille.

 

It is only one foot closer to the cab than it was before. Lighten up people!
