Buying a used 2010 with frame rust advice

So Im looking at buying a 2010 dbl cab TRD to replace my AC 2.7 for towing reasons. Its the same color, only a year older, and less KMS so I really like the idea. Seen the truck today and its in great shape and drives great. Its already had the leaf springs replaced inder warranty for rust. Only issue is the frame is further along rust wise then mine is.
I know toyota has been doing the recalls and stuff, but Im wondering when and if they will be doing them on the 2010s and if I buy it used will they still do it?

 

Pretty sure any recall covers who ever has the vehicle. I dont know about what uears are covered though.

 

I think i read its 05-08 right now, but you would have to think they will do the 09+ seeing how its the same frame

 

I would think they will extend the recall, or take care of those owners outside of the warranty with frame issues.

 

Honestly, rule of thumb is whenever you are questioning a vehicle you are about to buy based on its condition, don't buy it.

 

I know but the whole truck is in excellent shape. Like the best I have seen out of 15+ I have looked at. Its just the frame. Its not that bad yet, but it looks like in a few years it will be worse and maybe qualify to be sprayed or whatever for the recall. Been looking for a Blue TRD 4 door long box all year and this is it and lower kms. So hard to pass up

 

Probably will not see a recall for frames for model years 2009 onward. That's when Toyota switched frame manufacturers because of the rust problem.

Buy a rusted frame 2010 Tacoma at your own risk.

My stealership showed me personally that the frame rust recall ended sometime this past spring for my year truck (2010), id call Toyota and talk to the dealership... Personally I'd keep shopping to avoid a future headache... My .02

 

do you know how much it costs to replace a frame if you had to pay out of pocket? Add that amount to how much you'll pay for the truck. If you're ok with that total amount ( You may need to replace the frame later on) then buy it, if not move on.

 

It's not bad at all I'm just not use to any rust because mine is next to immaculate from being under coated and babied. It's just got surface rust and could be fixed j just would rather a new frame and thought they would give one. Kind of stumped on what to do now. Thanks for the help though guys
