Gonna do a little maintenance tomorrow. New spark plugs, change out front and rear differential, transfer case, and manual transmission gear oil.

I just sprayed tons of PB Blaster on all 8 drain and fill plugs and will knock this out tomorrow morning. :laser:

Battery light came on sunday night outside la barge wyoming. Checked running voltage monday. Bad alternator. Called around and found one in rock springs. Drove there with the girlfriend following. Picked up the new alternator and went to change it in the parking lot of autozone. Got the old one out and opened the new one. Wrong one. Return it and go to put the old one in and see if it will get me close to my destination.

That's when I realized one mounting bolt had broken and part of it was still in its hole. Today I walked around rock springs getting a drill and bits. An easy out and ordered a new alternator from the dealer. Went back to the truck and started drilling the stub. It turned in a little with the first bit and then turned out the back with the second. Used a craftsman tap and die set I picked up this spring to clean up the threads that weren't damaged. Found a replacement bolt that will work till I get the new one tomorrow.

I was freaking out this morning thinking about how much this might cost to have fixed. Now I have some new toys and knowledge. Feel good about it all.

I took advantage of that Toyota care one tuck ago...when I went to change out the cartridge style filter (5.7L v8) it took a 3' breaker bar to brake over the unhumanly amout of torque they put on that thing. Good luck on your first change on your own!

Some awesome decals from @CBoy808 ! If you are looking for something message him. I also had him do a little custom piece for me and a group of buddies and it came out great!

Yup. That's why I think the dealer change the cartrifge every other oil change or most likely never did in the first place cause they would have to take off the skid plate to do it.

First time I changed my trans at 30k with that mobil one. Noticed the shifting started feeling notchier and rougher not long after. That stuff is gl5 and is supposed to be exceptable for gl4, but I wouldn't use it again. Switched it out with redline after 10k and some reading and it felt much better. I use mt90 in the trans and xfer case now. It's gl4 and shifting feels better.

Not today, but recently (I mostly lurk):
Added Redline Tuning under the hood from a Group-Buy while back.

Added a BirdDawgIndustries TechDeck. Still waiting on balls and mounts. Should be in on Thursday of this week.

In the blanks below, Lt. = push-button "AUX LIGHTS" (bed lights), 2nd fr. Lt. = dual USB charger outlet w/ rubber cover, and Rt. = DPDT cut into factory blank (electric pop-n-lock).

Added a Father's Day present for the short wife with bad knees. Raptor 5" oval tube steps. Much better than the factory running boards which were tight to the base of the cab.

Added A-pillar RAM mount after looking over this post using 60 mm bolt and 2 spacers cut down slightly. Used a wire in power supply for the Garmin Nuvi 50 and a RAM specific holster for the unit. Very sturdy. Plenty of room around the unit and have an unobstructed view of the inspection sticker.

Gonna have to paint that bolt. Used the arm with RAM pn. RAP-B-200-2U. The old cradle for the unit was sloppy and it would droop in use. Still have to remove the old mount from the top front of the head unit (partially cut-off ball on the right of the pic).

Diff breather relocate. Because I added a two way breather and it's dusty as heck behind my taillight, added a few droppersfull of lube to the fuel line. Hopefully this catches any dust that might intrude. Prolly OCD overkill lol

I got a 3/4" stall mat from Tractor Supply....super easy to cut and heavy duty as hell. The only problem is, it has been in for 3 weeks and still smells like hell and makes anything in the back smell. I left it out all weekend and is better. Maybe a wash would help. Just a heads up

My Owners manual says to use either GL4 or GL5 oil. Mobil1 is GL5 and is acceptable for GL4. o_O
