    Hey guys how's it going I just wanted to ask a quick question. I'm going to do my first oil change to my 1999 Tacoma Prerunner for the first time and I bought the oil already which is going to be mobile one but I also bought a oil filter which is
    $12 Bosch 3330 Premium Oil Filter With FILTECH Filtration Technology - Compatible With Select Audi, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Jeep, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercury, Saab, Toyota, Volkswagen
    Bosch 3330 I wanted to know if that oil filter Bosch 3330 is a good oil filter? If not what oil filter should I get I know a lot of people been telling me to get the OEM Toyota filters but what would work for now

    Its a good oil filter sir. OEM is always good, but most of the other branded oil filters are good. I have used Bosch filters in my previous Toyota a few times and never had an issue. Just make sure you use good oil... which you have.

    To be honest, I don't think I've ever heard of a bad filter. The important thing is oil quality, quantity, and change interval (some last longer than others).

    I use to use only Fram and never had a bad experience until I started hearing all the negatives about them. Now I just get whatever is on sale, except Fram.

    For all I know Fram is perfectly fine, but I just don't see the same dislike for most of the other brands.

    Yup this is a great deal. But any filter will work as long as oil change intervals are done properly. I used to always use Fram filters and never had a problem. Until I started reading horror stories online and got paranoid, then made the switch to OEM. Much cheaper also.

    There are different qualities that distinguish the better filters from others.
    A Google search for oil filter comparisons will lead to quite a few threads on forums where folks have cut open lots of brands of filters and reported the findings.
    One thing that doesn't seem to be mentioned much is that our Toyota engines, well most Toyota engines, if not all, are very easy on the oil. That speaks to the quality of design and manufacture of Toyota engines. I've sent a couple samples from an oil change with my cruisers back in the day to Blackstone labs. If I remember right, it was years ago, one sample was from a 5k oci and the other was 7.5k oci. Both had mobil 1 oil and I can't remember which filters. I think one was OEM and one was mobil 1. Either way, Blackstone commented that there was still additive package left in the samples I sent and to feel comfortable running longer oci's, if I desired. They also commented on how easy my cruiser's engine was on the oil, Lack of bearing and metal particulate, etc. Granted this was from a Land Cruiser, Toyota's flagship vehicle, but I'm sure most of their engines are very well designed in this regard. Anyway, use a good oil and filter and change oil 5k or so, I almost got the balls to do a 10k oci but couldn't bring myself to do it, lol.
    Important things an oil filter should have are a silicone anti-aging back valve, a hefty amount of filter media, and NO CARDBOARD (cough..FRAM...cough) inside the filter.
    Do your own reading and learn this stuff yourself, there's tons of info on different forums. It was easy for me to spend hours reading about this stuff because it fascinates me. I'm a Toyota nerd...
    Edit: also this cruiser engine had around 200k on the clock. That's what's most impressive with Yotas. Even after miles and miles of service to still have an oil analysis that clean seems just crazy. But I'll happily accept it :)

    I use Napa Platinum. It seems to be a great oil filter. From what I read WIX makes them for NAPA.

    You could go 10000-15000with the mobil 1.

    You could just change out the filter at 5000 miles or so if you wanted and then top off the oil.

    I don't know if the filter is good for as long as the oil.

    You probably won't find a filter that will state a mileage. Their warranties all revert back to the vehicle manufactures recommended oil interval change.
