Thanks Jonny, I'm going to jack her up, check for binding and measure accordingly if I find it. To other noobs like me, the info I was asking about i.e., do I need limit straps, can be found here, earlier in this thread you are reading, at post #39

Just measure with a tape where you want to mount it. I use a 9 but you may want longer or shorter depending where and how you mount it.

for all you guys running the dk lowers hows the life of the uniball?............ had the truck in for an alignement today and was told both lower bj's are going bad, they were brand new arms and bj's less than 3 years ago when I had the frame swapped, so I guess wat I'm getting at is do I go out and buy dirtking lca's and be done with bj's all together or just get new bj's. should also mention I'm on the east coast of Canada so I see every type of weather. I have icon ucas now and the uniball will last anywhere from 1 1\2-2 years

Question for those with long travel coilovers: what springs are you running with them? I recently acquired a pair of icon 2.5 LT coilovers but I need springs. I'm running sliders, prinsu racks, and a cap. No bumpers yet. Thanks fellas.

you mean extended coilovers (for MT) not long travel coilovers, right?

Negative, they were specifically valved for use with TC or Camburg LT kits, 8" travel shocks. I don't know if they're close to the equivalent of the Ext coilovers.

Not yet. I'm going 3.5" over UCAs and LCAs, possible DK. I know this is a MT thread, but I know a lot guys here are LT. The part number on the shock is Sku-31465.

    haha, okay cool.

Have you tried asking the guys in the LT thread. I'm sure they would be able to give you an educated guess on where to start. Or weigh your front end and give DSM a call. I'm sure they'd give you some help :notsure:

    Yes
You need less spring with long travel because the leverage ratio weakens. I would suggest 600#

Interesting, so 3"x14" 600 Lb coils should do the trick? Thanks man.

No. 16" or 18" spring length for LT coils depending on which spring perch you have.

I didn't know there were different perches. Got a lot to learn, here's the coil overs I have. Eyeballing it, looks like there would definitely need to be a longer coil.

    Here's a neat trick.
Pull the shock out of the box. Set the lower spring perch on the lower rod end. Then unscrew the preload collar all the way to the top. Then if you take a tape measure and run it from the spring perch where the coil seats and run that tape measure up to the top to the preload collar, the tape measure will show you how long of a spring will fit. :cookiemonster:

Well gees, truly I was hoping you would have an extravagant scientific writeup for what kind of spring will fit.:p Lol, jk. With the top collar set at 0, it measured to a little over 17 inches. Looks like an 18" coil pair would be correct.

Keep in mind if you use an 18" spring, you will have to preload the coil to get the lower perch back in. Which means taking it to a shop or using widowmakers.
A 16" coil will typically work just fine on an 8" travel shock as well.
