Just curious, how did you know he had aftermarket lights? I didn't see it posted previously in the thread.

Thanks. Conducted emissions from the HID power supply putting noise on those busses is an option, and that will cause bizare and interesting failure modes.

My bet is: HID power supply gets wet, puts noise on the ground plane for the ECU, one of the processors which actually runs the truck shits itself, and the truck dies.

Good luck OP, sounds like new bulbs is the answer.

I know a LED is a light emitting diode. I should of been more clear and I misspoke a bit. I didn't mean to say LEDs themselves. They don't produce any detectable noise. However the devices to control and operate The LEDs can emit EMI noise. This noise can cause interference. So while the LED itself doesn't a LED light or some other device that uses LEDs can. Not all devices have it use filtering devices.

A prime example is in our shops we have LED lights in the ceiling and they effect our door opener range. The overhead door guys said they run into this issue a lot.

That diagram isn't showing anything really pertaining to the head lights. Just showing the BUS lines and how they run on the network. The headlights run from the switch, yellow wire to the ECU. As do the parking lights and there is a auto light wire. All those are analog. The switch itself isn't a CAN module or run on a LIN bus or any other type of network. I'm pretty sure the ECU just uses internal relays to control the headlights after that. I highly doubt anything is back feeding into the circuit and causing the ECU to freak out.

As I had said, it was only the piece of the puzzle that pertained to the ECU without uploading the whole schematic.

There are no "internal relays" in the body ECU. The body ECU is run on the network, what it does is it switches ground signals to external headlamp relays under the hood. This body ECU is how it does all the fancy stuff like turning the headlights off automatically if you park & leave the lights on, and cutting the fog lights off when you put on the high beams. Again, see the top most blue box is labeled M6(A), which is the main body ECU.

Anyways I guess I should upload the whole thing. See attached PDF for the full layout.
