that would be the plan. the shame is having to have them put away where no one sees them. i've been researching them this morning. info on the civil war era rifle is interesting springfield arms 1864 it has seriel numbers and inspection stamps and other stamps trying to find sources to decode them. all my firearms are kept locked in a gun locker except the pistol kept by the bed and it was never there until the kids were grown.

I think it is time for a gun cabinet with a glass door and lock.

the antique firearms are hanging on the walls where they can be seen. the others are locked up. i used to have a glass front cabinet but began being concerned about having the guns visible. the 2 winchesters will probaly remain in their boxes for protection. the cool thing for me is i was there when my uncle was given the illinois riffle as a retirement gift. hhe retired in the 80's so the rifle was already around 20 years old when he was gifted it. these things still have the tags on them and wrapped in the oiled paper. i took them out this morning just to give them a visual inspection. i had looked through all the closets yesterday looking for them and couldn't find them until i went into the attic and was looking through some built-in cabinets and found them burried under some blankets on the back of 1 of the shelves

Well. Here we are just back in the states. We spent the weekend in Niagara-on-the-Lake Canadia. My Inlaws took us (Elizabeth and I ) up for the weekend to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary (which was in July) and Elizabeth's birthday. We enjoyed some excellent meals (one of which was a very fine five course dinner with wines paired for each course), wine tasting (and buying!) And two very well performed plays,
A Woman of No Importance (by Oscar Wilde ) and Alice in Wonderland (Lewis Carrol). I can post now that we are on the road again. Spending time with family limits ones posting ability and it would be awfully rude to ignore my wife today. It is her birthday after all.

    Finally did it!!!!

    I PINKED out the truck!

Today the whole family (Wife, 2 teenage daughters) ran/walked our third annual local hospital 5k for Breast Cancer Awareness. I've been waiting for this day to surprise the love of my life.

Last night, my younger daughter and I spent all evening carefully applying the bedside decal that I ordered last December, with the help of many of the 50'ers very welcome and thoughtful opinions/input.

I stayed up in the garage past midnight and also painted my calipers and shackles with high temp PINK epoxy paint.

Here's the post for background and context.

The girls and I did it again. WE surprised the heck out of Anna. I managed to keep everything from her until we arrived at the race start. Then we showed her our handiwork!
We made our life just a little bit better. And it was worth the all night effort.
