    Couple ideas

Wires through your firewall carrying it in
    Plugs under your seats
    If moonroof/sunroof clogged drain(s)
    Ac drain port clogged
    Bad weatherstripping

Or if you are as lucky as me, youll find out its the windshield seal. Guy is coming out tomorrow

have any of you done a retrofit conversion for your headlights? I used to be that guy with HIDs in standard housings but I changed back to halogens a while ago and now i really want to go back to HIDs but would like to do them correctly. I am terrible with electronics/wiring and dont believe i have the skills to do a retrofit on my own. is there anyplace that sells a complete drop in?

Yes but expensive. Easy to do wiring. I believe alignment on 2nd gens is the difficult variable

i know a complete retrofit is a little pricey, but im not too concerned about price. i just want to do it correctly this time and im a little lost when it comes to lighting/projectors.

does it not require any cutting? i dont trust myself with a dremel that needs precise cutting.

sucks that the 4runner forum is much less active that TW, i cant find a nice write up for a 4th gen 4runner.

Eh, see my Build Thread sig link. Too many mods to list.
Yep. But it'll be different as I have a 1st gen. Lots of cutting the housing in my situation.

Stick with TRS and all will be well.

And kudos to wanting to do it right! My Honda still has 15 year old HIDs in stock housings. Blindation Nation!

they have a picture of an FJ on their website, but no matter what model year i pick, i cannot find Toyota in their dropdown menu.

sorry to ask a basic question but do you have run down on the parts i would need? every thread i can find has bunch of acronyms, makes it hard to read through...

i think im going to end up just getting a second housing so i can take it slow.

Called a mechanic and explained it to him. He said it could be a clogged drain hose but I ran out of time today. Pulled carpet and kick panel and the water is only in the floorboard area. Can't find any water trails either. I'm off wed so if i can't figure it out by then I'll take it in so he can look at it. Looks like it's coming from near the door but its pooled up near the center console.

Plugs all seem to be there and intact. The carpet leading up to the firewall is dry so it doesn't seem to be coming from up above.

Weren't there some issues with windshields leaking? If it was mine, I'd have somebody run garden hose on it while you sat inside looking for water...

I actually just did a retrofit for an early model 4th gen like yours. I found it quite simple, honestly, but I have done well over a dozen retrofits now. It was far easier than a 1st gen Tacoma or 3rd gen 4Runner (the only other types I have done).

If you're not comfortable with wiring an HID harness (they're about as easy as it gets) then I'd highly recommend paying someone else to do the retrofit.

As for TRS... For two years I did retrofits and had one person EVER have to file a warranty claim. This summer I did quite a few retrofits (all with TRS products) and all but a couple of them have messaged me with issues. This is one that happened more than once...

You can see that metal "band" around the base of the bulb? Well, it's not supposed to be separated like that. That's a brand new, worthless, bulb.

Have also had one person with a bad igniter, and a couple with bad ballasts. All Morimoto parts, all ordered through TRS.

All of these problems are why I have stopped doing retrofits.

Here's a little overview of the 4th gen retrofit I did:

    Thanks for sharing Alex.

    Speaking of failures...

My morimoto harness actually failed on me outside of packwood during the WABDR. Was on top of white pass and made it to camp with my hella 500s on. Felt bad for everyone i blinded
