Ok, I came up with a very simple, very cheap alternative to my problem. I wanted a compass on my mirror (check...standard) and homelink button (issue), somewhere other than my small visor. When I was driving to work the other day, I was looking around for places that I could potential fix my std garage door opener or possibly a key chain fob. I then tried clipping it to my roof lining and found that it fit perfect and looked great. It looks muh better in person than what you see in the photo. Also, I am going to slide it up on the bracket, which will completely hide the metallic clip. Total install time: 5 seconds; total cost: 5 seconds of my precious time.

I have the same model garage door opener, and will be "installing this mod" as soon as I leave work.

lol, You will likely need to remove the clip and squeeze it a bit to make it fit snug. That can be done within the 5 seconds...no tools necessary

It came to me that by simply flipping the license plate mounting bars around 180 degrees make my custom aluminum front license plate mount into a high mount.

Always a good feeling going into winter with a clean ,waxed vehicle . It even makes me afraid to close the door for fear of finger prints . That came from my black 69 SS Camaro days but I digress ...............

silver always looks great with a fresh coat of wax. By the way, what did you use. I would like to wax mine and am thinking the old jar of turtle wax does not belong on my truck.

Hmm, I clipped mine to the visor for a couple months but took it off hoping it didn't leave permanent dents, but I've been keeping it in the square cupholder. Going to try this instead...

    Pretty stock for now
I took my garage door open, solder two wires to the circuit board then wired it to a black flush mount momentary button and mounted it to the upper console in between the map lights. You don't even notice it and it works great.

I previously blacked out my chrome bumper caps, so today I killed the chrome from the grill too. I'm going to look in to powder coating the wheels black next.

Also check out this thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/headliner-homelink-install.54783/

There are also a few folks who've retrofitted homelink mirrors onto their trucks if they didn't come with one.
